Interesting you should write about corporate social responsibility, Ali. Todays Millennials prefer to join companies who consider social responsibility the norm, rather than the exception. Once joining them, if they discover this isn't the real case, they quickly move on. Thanks for another valuable share.

#48 this is the challenge embedded in your comment @Louise Smith. You wrote "But we have no influence". Again, you remind me of ants in turbulent waters. Each ant alone will sink. However; by hooking to each other and forming a raft they float. WEakness is in working alone. I think small may generate a butterfly effect that will disrupt the climate of current businesses if they hook together.

#16 This has happened recently in Adelaide South Australia ( http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-08/sa-heatwave-forces-rolling-blackouts-angering-government/8252512 ) and was partly blamed on the lack of power generated by renewables at that time.

But where are the renewable power battery storage systems ?
Where is the advance planning to cope with this situation which often occurs in Australian Summer?

In fact, it was the market operator, who runs the national electricity market, who didn't foresee the problem
and generate enough power or turn on extra generators to cope with it in advance.

Also the LNP in government used this to score political points by incorrectly stating that renewable energy is not sufficient.
Again where are the renewable power battery storage systems ? Where is the advance planning?
Whose responsibility is it ? Clearly the power companies do not care about the ordinary people and their businesses suffering as a result.

I am trying hard not to believe that I live in a 3rd world country !

#84 Yes, I remember Hurricane Andrew well. The fact is, in Florida, we are all much better prepared now, and our building codes are much improved. But to continue our discussion of dry-rack boat storage, the current common structural designs for such storage facilities are still subject to what is known in engineering circles as "zipper" failure -- the serial failure of a single component followed by another, then another, and another, until the entire structure collapses. Your idea to build such rack storage of steel boxes (containers) locked together would result in a much more storm resistant building. Cheers!

#83 Storm storage (hurricane storage?) might be something. A friend and customer of mine lost his boat during Hurricane Andrew (Miami). . . . his boat is on the cover of a fund-raiser book that went out shortly after it was over. I can't recall her name, nor the size and configuration of the craft. It was a big power boat
    Phil Friedman
    28/06/2017 #83 Phil Friedman
#81 That is an interesting suggestion, Wayne. I think that using the system longer-term for storage, as an alternative to wet slips would not be practical because of the limiting width of the containers and the need, in most cases, to insert the boats tilted to one side. However, using stacked containers in preference to the usual structure employed in "dry-rack" storage is itself a brilliant idea -- even if it involved manufacturing special width containers. Right now, the usual construction for "dry-rack" boat storage is quite vulnerable to major storms. But building up structures using steel containers stacked and locked together would be ever so much more durable and wind resistant. (What is your opinion, @Lada ๐Ÿก Prkic?) Cheers!

#52 This is another "feature" that might be market-able, @Phil Friedman - slips/docks are filled up in many places. The storage network may be a great offshoot.

#78 Thanks for saying so, Jim. I think one needs to be a yachtsperson to understand the full import of this concept (which I've been working on for a couple of years), which is why I didn't tag any of the usual suspects on the post. But I am gratified to see that some non-boating people can see its merit as well. Cheers!

#64 I feel your pain, Todd. Compounding and waxing even a 20-footer is a two-day job for one guy in my experience. If you're using a 9" or 10" orbiting buffer, try switching to a 6". Although it covers less area per pass, it is much less fatiguing than holding the larger machine, and the work will actually go more rapidly. Ryobi makes a cheap one that lasts pretty well. I used to buy them by the dozen for use in buffing out clear coatings on cabinetwork with guitar polishing compounds. Cheers!

#71 Great explanation Phil, thanks for the clarification.
    Phil Friedman
    25/06/2017 #71 Phil Friedman
#62 Thank you, Pamela, for reading and commenting. On the environmental side, we believe this a "greener" approach to world cruising. Here's why. Leave aside, for the moment, the issue of fuel consumption in "superyachts" (70 meters and over) in regard of which we don't speak of miles per gallon, but rather in (hushed) terms of gallons per mile. Most yachts capable of being delivered on their own bottoms to the world's prime cruising waters from home ports around the world use a lot of fuel when running at alongshore speeds. They can be designed and powered to be much more fuel-efficient if based on being freighted to various areas where their owners then want to cruise. But the costs of carriage in such cases is, literally, in the tens of thousands of dollars, sometimes more than a hundred thousand. Our concept involves purpose-building a yacht that can be used by four to six people to, say, cruise the European canals or the Hawaiian islands for a few weeks or a month or two -- which is often as much time as most yachtspeople want to spend in a given area -- but which does not cost tens of thousands of dollars to freight around the world. And because the yachts are smaller and operate effectively alongshore and on inland waters, they can be more efficiently powered. Cheers!
    Phil Friedman
    25/06/2017 #70 Phil Friedman
#61 The problem, Paul, is that we're developing this as a "system" that is more than just sticking a boat into a container -- which anyone can do. We're completing the design and engineering of a boat that takes advantage of the maximum dimensions which can be fitted into a common container. And the hull is being specifically engineered to sit in a purpose-built dolly/cradle whose upright supports will lock onto specifically incorporated attachment points on the hull and roll it into an angled position. The dolly wheels will them enable the boat to be rolled into the container. Which is why we're referring to this as a "complete system". Remember, the horizontal interior dimention of a "standard" container is only 7'9", less even than the allowable trailer width in the U.S. and Canada, which is 8'6" without a special permit. Cheers!
    Phil Friedman
    25/06/2017 #69 Phil Friedman
#60 Thanks, Don, for saying so. I've been kicking this around for more than two years now, and only recently ran into some people interested in partnering up to potentially turn it into more than conceptual speculation. Cheers!
    Phil Friedman
    25/06/2017 #68 Phil Friedman
#59 Yes, Lada, the dolly/cradle is an important piece of the puzzle. Partly because holding the hull at an angle is necessary in order to accommodate a wider boat and partly because the dolly/cradle has to knock down and stow out of the way in the boat so that a forward or return shipment does not have to originate from the original destination (jump-off) port.

Your idea, is like the drop of water that falls on the leaf and how the veins magnify and so my thoughts magnify with imaginative ideas.

You wake up the sleeping ideas in my head and thank you for that. wow... how many aspects to think we get after reading this buzz.. I "feel" that thoughts are previous than ideas.. and as someone here said before,, we are not then.. Thoughts came and go every single moment "inside" our heads... But we are not then...And when one thought shines than other ones we ""go" with this though and... we "develop" the thought and ... we call then ... ideas... I feel in this way...Perhaps I am totally wrong ... A lot of to think..thanks my valuated fri nd @alianani... Your buzzes to me are lessons ,,I need to read agina and again and I learn a lot.. I am writing my next buzz on sound bubbles and their significance. From soap bubbles to sound bubbles there is a huge journey that is consistent with your comment. What you wrote "Once I move past this the energy required grows exponentially. Like the lioness summing up its prey, it has to choose where energy can best be focused". Bubbles do the same and I love your beautiful comments. They have their distinctive wave pattern.

#35 I am glad you liked the probing comment of @Mohammed Sultan and I concur fully with your triad @Sara Jacobovici. It is an illumination. The triad consisting of myself, my vision, my customer is a powerful one. One issue that you may wish to tackle in a dedicated buzz is the relationship between my vision and the customer vision. I am sure you have a lot to say.
    Harvey Lloyd

@Ali ๐Ÿ Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee Ideas are energy created within a network of energy. I agree that we should look at ideas as tangible even though they reside within an energy field. Nature is efficient. The shapes and designs serve to conserve energy in executing life.

Like nature our ideas should seek to do the same thing. Ideas should include a efficient design. The more energy we have to use to either build or maintain an idea will determine its success.

Using the ball analogy we can see that the ball is 360 degrees. Energy needs to increase the further I move from my perspective. Say I am at 180 degrees with an idea, I can form influence in a diameter of 20 degrees. Once I move past this the energy required grows exponentially. Like the lioness summing up its prey, it has to choose where energy can best be focused.

I introduce this because an idea is a random photon unless we add energy. Like photons, ideas abound but as a species we have to choose what and where we will place energy.

Nature lacks consciousness so efficientcy is its only focus. Our species has consciousness which allows us to (good or bad) discern. This discernment is leveraged on our perceptions and mainly our fears. The energy of an idea can be foreshadowed by our perceptions.

A stack of 2x4's is merely lumber until a carpenter applies energy to build a house. Ideas are similar to the 2x4's merely lumber until energy is applied.

This gets into a larger discussion about influence vs control. That is for another day.

#33 Thanks to @Ali ๐Ÿ Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee for bringing my attention to your wonderful comment @Mohammed Sultan. Your last sentence, "The light inside us and the vision we created for our companies should be targeted toward the darker spots in customers mind.", is a very powerful concept. For me it forms the triad; myself, my vision, my customer. If I hold a clear vision of what I/my company is all about, I am then able to "see" the need/dark side of my customer/marketplace and fulfill that need in the most successful means possible. This results in my customer/marketplace being illuminated and in this way spreading my vision for all to "see" and be drawn towards it. I wonder, Dr. Ali, if this is a potential subset in the formula to success?
Ali ๐Ÿ Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee
    28/08/2016 #34 Ali ๐Ÿ Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee
I am sure @Sara Jacobovici will enjoy mentioning her name in your excellent comment dear @Mohammed Sultan. You know a crazy idea came to my mind and it is timely as it relates to my next post. Spherical bubbles get this shape because it is the shape of least energy requirement by having the least surface area. Now, I think because of your comment and Sara's comment their is a hidden reason- to not see the whole ball and that we must be illuminated from within us, be ready to rotate the ball (bubble), look at different perspectives, imagine and listen to other peoples' vies. It ball shape is the test if we can do that. So, I love what you wrote dear Mohammed "ideas are the lights of our paths and our journey ,so we should stay plugged in,change our batteries to turn on our light in the dark side of the marketplace".
    Mohammed Sultan
    28/08/2016 #33 Mohammed Sultan
@The perversity of nature is clearly demonstrated by the fact that ,when exposed to the same atmosphere bread becomes hard ,Exactly the same; ideas become hard and empty if they are not enrolled or balled like 'day and night',and turned to concepts and solutions.Implementing ideas is at least as important as generating them and when ideas are first propounded by outdated beliefs without referring to formal studies ,the pipelines of our thoughts will get dry.We are always faced with the dark side of the ball, faced with many dark areas and blind spots in the marketplace which are considered barriers to our innovation or wrong perceptions when creative ideas are killed in their generation stage .The more outdated beliefs are held in our minds ,the more darker areas you create in your customers mind and the more barriers to your innovation you will encounter. Our ideas are the lights of our paths and our journey ,so we should stay plugged in,change our batteries to turn on our light in the dark side of the marketplace. The light inside us and the vision we created for our companies should be targeted toward the darker spots in customers mind.
