I'm anti-[resume on profile].
You just can't control what people can do with it (including modifying it).
This is less prevalent with your LinkedIn Profile because, even if someone saves it as a PDF, it will always look like a webpage.
You also have to re-upload your attachment every time you edit your master file.
The most obvious con though, is having intrusive colleagues & managers misunderstanding your motives.
Depending on your privacy settings, you could also be accessible to people pursuing their own motives, from being added to unwanted mailing lists to being approached for jobs you're simply not interested in.
If you are going to attach it (pdf only; never *.txt or *.doc file!), make sure it builds on and complements your LinkedIn presence.
Your resume delivers little benefit if it merely regurgitates the profile.
For example, there's a clear distinction between my resume and LinkedIn profile.
My LinkedIn profile is exuberant. I use it to show off and entertain.
You'll never go wrong quoting comedians like Jackie Mason or Dennis Miller.
My resume is a scalpel cutting to the chase. Every word has earnt its place.
It's not written with a [Deadpool meets Liam Neeson] tone like I have on LinkedIn.

To which I would add, replace your personal email address with a cut-out address that is set to automatically forwards emails to your mail email address. In my case, I use my consulting business email address, because it is plastered all over the Internet anyway, and has been for years. But if you don't have a separate business (your business, not your employer's) email address, create a cut-out gMail account. As well expunge your telephone number, unless like me you use your business number and it happens to already be plastered all over the Internet. Never use your personal or home telephone number.
