You brought back memories of sales. I am long out of that role but wanted to add something we did in our firm many years ago. Each customer has a combination to unlock the sale. Cold calling was a way to get the first number the second the second, well you get the picture. We had a customer we new was on a major expansion and our construction services business wanted the customer. We had a team of five people in sales strung out across the states. We would cycle calls between them and develop combination sheets. The oddest one was a Lady on the team sent the gatekeeper to our success flower. Being mostly males we laughed. The next meeting she walked in with an appointment and knowledge about the combination we had been seeking. Our president flew out the next week and we began the journey. Cold calls are seeking the combination. With each call seek to find out different information about, personality, current status and mainly who is the gatekeeper.
