Among practitioners, it is also known as direct response.

    Those numbers don't lie. Everyone is reluctant to change suppliers or add new products. You can't give up, until you feel you've overstayed your welcome, but followup in a year. Decisionmakers change.

    In a past life, I started up and ran the direct mail and fulfillment divisions for commercial printers. It's been a decade since I've been in the game, but back when I was, I was a huge fan of Mail Manager (by then BCC Software). It's reasonably priced a smart DP person can do nearly anything with it (even outside of typical mail DP).

    Good recommendations @Scott Eganhouse it is better to analyze the strategy you are going to chose in terms of cost-efficiency. It is a fact that sometimes you think you are saving up by paying less for a service and since you didn't analyze the quality of the service and didn't forecast the outcome the investment ends up not being profitable.
