Email marketing is directly marketing a commercial message to a group of people using email. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. It usually involves using email to send ads, request business, or solicit sales or donations, and is meant to build loyalty, trust, or brand awareness. Email marketing can be done to either sold lists or a current customer database. Broadly, the term is usually used to refer to sending email messages with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or previous customers, to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business, acquiring new customers or convincing current customers to purchase something immediately, and adding advertisements to email messages sent by other companies to their customers.

    Anyone else using MailChimp?

    I am getting feedback that:

    - on smartphones the header shows up with weird code so people don't open them(see image)
    - the emails are much longer than how they appear in MailChimp and in webmail

    I use MailChimp because it is free but lately, the emails aren't generating any business. They used to. Does anyone else know of free email services? I won't spend money on what is not generating income. So, please don't suggest paid options.

    You choose the medium most likely to get the response you require. Cold calling is often essentially a fishing exercise, without the right bait. Like taking a scatter gun in the hope of hitting an unknown target. Like many unsolicited approaches it has a poor return percentage. Ask anyone how they feel being cold called, very few if any welcome that approach. Remember to the golden rule for e-mails is never open unsolicited ones. Like leaflets and similar dump them in the trash can.
    Whatever approach you choose make sure you limit your targets to those you know beyond doubt could lead somewhere.

    exception to the rule, sending inmal or cold inmail inside a social media plateform are considered allowed, as far as you do not act on a constant recurrent basis, and you can share or cold contact. who is related to you or your contact base, active since the last 6 months. i love the article by the way, all good points from a marketing standpoint

    Cold e-mails on Hotmail isn't that an oxymoron. They would/will get a luke warm response from me. In fact I have zero tolerance of cold calling in any form. They are like the cookies you can't eat a time waster. If you want information there is always the Internet, and you can get it when you want it not when someone thinks you do. Regain your life boycott cold calling.

    The things is we have to manually send them due to the latest regulations. They can be effective if your personal brand and its wide exposure are well established and targets circles of influence are always talking about you. All about building data intel on who you want to cold call or cold email, with a purpose...the famous added value proposition.     I liked your point about being specific - not generalising when sending a cold e-mail @koka sexton. I admit, although I have had some success with using cold e-mails, I find it hard to send them. I'll make use of some of your tips going forward. Thank you.

    This is interesting @E.G. Sebastian, but you're definitely selling here. I believe in "selling," too, but what you didn't do with this article (following your advice now) is offer that value-added component. Your information is pretty standard (good, but known). What are you giving us that makes this article particularly valuable? I'm constantly promoting my book (I have to for contractual reasons), but I also make sure my posts GIVE something besides advice, whether it's a new insight or even a few laughs. I'm kinda like the door-to-door salesman who does a full juggling act on the lawn first. If I have followers—and I do—I'd say I have them more for my blog/posts than my book. At least they're getting to know me, my thinking and my willingness to give as well as receive.
