@Donna-Luisa Eversley, I look forward to your next buzz on exercises that work for you. I sure wasn't in an accident 3/4's as severe as you. I think I mentioned I broke my left shoulder and right hand a little over 2 years ago and had a 3rd degree sprain in my ankle. I also broke my tailbone 3 times LOL, so needless to say my back/neck are a bit of a mess. Oddly, I healed up fairly well and did great for the first yr and a half after my breaks. I was using the batter operated hedge trimmers this summer and trimmed 50 ft worth of bushes. My middle fingers shook uncontrollably for 3 hours afterwards then the shoulder/neck pain set in. I haven't been able to power walk or use the elliptical as I did over the years since and it's sure not helping my weight. You are inspiring me to FIND a way to just DO IT!! My husband has been begging me to go to the Dr but as I told you my deductible is 3400/yr and I can't afford tests. I never thought I'd say that! I do know I need to change my diet, maybe we can keep each other on track! You've got this and thank you for sharing, you inspire many. :))

@Donna-Luisa Eversley this is a great letter to your beautiful self. Thank you for sharing your commitment with us. As someone who has been on that journey for a while now, I can tell you that it is worth it. I never could buy into any of the weight loss pills and gimmicks that are out there. I did it by changing my lifestyle because that's really what it is: a lifestyle change. It meant changing my eating habits and exercising regularly. And with that came a lot of self-reflection on the course to a better, healthier self - physically, emotionally, and mentally. I still struggle from time to time, but not a day goes by that I ever regret making the change. I still have some weight I'd like to shed, and I'll get there. Slowly and surely. You've got this my friend and I have no doubt you'll achieve your goals. I'm here if you ever need encouragement or a virtual get healthy buddy!

#5 @Ken Boddie I sure like that example of snakes and ladders. I would somehow land on the snakes, but right now I'm going to be carrying that ladder, even when I fall down the snakes of life! You go @Donna-Luisa Eversley! You have the right mindset and are doing it for the right reasons. I'll be here in MN cycling right with you, heck I might even run a little.

As a severe accident survivor, I get it!

It's so much more about balanced and healthy nutrition than it is about logging hour upon hour in the gym.

As my friend says, fuel the right way and just keep moving!

I'm excited to see what you wrote a year from now,

If anyone can do this, you can, DLE. I used to think that weight loss was like a game of 'snakes and ladders' and that eventually you get to the top of the ladder and finish the game (if you don't stand on too many slippery snakes). Now I know the game never ends, so if we take it one rung at a time, one day we'll notice that the snakes have gone, the view is magnificent, and the ladder is our best friend.
