Why the World is not getting worse
Why the World is not getting worseAfter series of terrible attacks and crisis, many people have the feeling that the world is getting worse. But is that really so?  An article I read today in the German magazine "Spiegel" and my LI newsfeed inspired me to add some of my own facts...

#9 #3 #13 Totally agree! What an awesome and inspirational message for today! This is the kind of Article that belongs in class for universities, our Youth, Teens (I am totally with you there on that, @Lisa Gallagher - your replies are always just Perfection Personified!) and young couples! Awe-inspiring, "drop-the-jaw" facts - yes again, Lisa, well researched and the scientists love love love that! (And you even give references, Aurourasa!) ~ I think this should go out as a general beBee inspiration ~ the quintessential type of article that serves as just about "The Best" data-driven, artistic, poetic, altruistic and Sweet Honey Production that a bee can Produce! @Anees Zaidi, @Lisa Jones, @Lisa Lee, @Franci Eugenia Hoffman, @Charlene Burke, @Juan Imaz and more. :-). What a great buzz @Aurorasa Sima and you sure did your homework! It's true, the world is less violent today and the most peaceful globally than it's been in years. Again, reading beyond the headlines makes a big difference. I'm saddened how many people are still homeless, and at the amount of malnourished children we have in the US. It just goes to show as a society how much harder we have to work to end these travesties. And, it is possible with Education, love and the drive to be the person(s) who want to make a difference. I hope more people read this, very valuable. Thanks for all the info!!

Great article with some good stats, although I had to Google MacRib. I wouldn't go so far as to say we live in peaceful times but the trend offers hope...

#2 I had to remind myself. I saw you just commented "heart bleeding" on one of the things today that I can´t get out of my mind. The first answer that comes to mind is: Because people are jerks. Then I had to remind myself.

#1 I agree Aurorasa! If we keep believing that the world is deteriorating and getting worse it will become our reality. However, I also believe that social media has enabled us to act faster regarding injustices in the world. When we see images of black people being randomly killed by police we react with shock and it creates an outrage that forces governments to act. While social media may have many negatives, it has connected us more as people and therefore enables us to pay more attention to injustice where previously these would have gone unnoticed. It's easy to think the world is deteriorating (and in some places it is) but we do need to be reminded that the world isn't all bad and that there is progress in many places. Thanks for sharing this thought-provoking post! :)
