I like to take long walks outside, preferably where there are lots of trees and open spaces. I also enjoy my patio overlooking the small pond with duckies - and my birdfeeders. It is calming and peaceful.

On a long drive to nowhere on particular for no apparent reason. On purpose I leave the cell phone at home so I can get away from all the noise that the web produces that can't always be heard but can be felt from a mile away.

Thinking is highly overated. Drinking, now that's a whole different story. A few cocktails and I can solve any problem.

5am I wake up and take my dog to the park when it's completely empty as the sun is rising. I sit and just take it all in as she runs around chasing squirrels and sticks. It's the most peace I've ever had.

@Michael Hillebrand Taking my dogs for a long walk in the Johannesburg Botanical gardens which is just around the corner from my house. But then, paraphrasing the saying: "Sometimes I walks and finks, but sometimes I just walks".

Off grid, dirt road, as fast as traction, tires and throttle will let me go.

Marine Drive's promenade which is also known as queen's necklace. I always take a stroll there, by relieving stress and let my creative juices flowing by observing all sorts of people and smashing tides on bunches of tetrapods.

I try to get away to not think...to turn it off for a while. I like the ocean most for that. Living in Nebraska, oceans are hard to find, but there is the Missouri river that just flows by.

It's not so much a place as an activity. On my bike. Doesn't matter where. Preferably a bike path where I don't have to deal with cars or jaywalkers.

Thanks @Michael Hillebrand for being inspired. My 'other office' always seems to have water involved, a lake, river or stream. A fountain will do in a pinch. Even in the winter, I'll bundle up and go down by the lake. Here's a shot of one of my favourite benches in winter. www.flickr.com/photos/kwpashuk/24995088751

There is a park by my house with a trail that goes all the way around it. It's almost 5 miles long and goes around a pond, several creeks, and sports fields. It's quiet (except evenings when games and practices are going on) and and really nice to be in the middle of a city, but surrounded by nature. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing, and it's a great place to clear my mind, and get some exercise at the same time. Favorite place, without a doubt.

On the North Ridge of Tryfan in North Wales, the view out on to the lake and across the valley is so relaxing...
