I agree with these perspectives @Donald Grandy. The craziness enters when self preservation kicks in with the team. Each will look at the innovation from their perspective. I myself have been trapped by this spirit. A team member comes in with an innovative idea but I dismiss it based on their poor understanding of other parts of the business. I usually go back and make time to hear what they are presenting. The challenge is to get the team to let their guard down. The best way is to come up with scheduled time and places to "brainstorm". The rules are that whatever someone comes up with has to focus on the goal of the team at that time. Thanks for the read it was good stuff.

'It’s easy to spot and celebrate the innovations that change company fortunes: Apple’s iPhone, Warner-Lambert’s (and then Pfizer’s) Lipitor, Microsoft’s Windows, to name a few. What is harder to appreciate are those innovations that aren’t the blockbusters and home runs but nonetheless play a critical role in a company’s innovation strategy'

#2 I concur and Christensen has made it clear by breaking out three types of innovation that efficiency as innovation is innovation eating the chickens. When this chicken eating innovation is coupled with Isaiah Berlin's essay https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hedgehog_and_the_Fox regarding the "The Hedgehog and the Fox" and now we combine, because we can combine we are experiencing innovation where it is an embryo, in our own mind. Where you are Claus in terms of understanding is ahead of most and so I sense that you know, even if intuitively, that this is a beginning and there is much to evolve - just as the neuroscientist is learning about the human brain, we are learning new things about innovation. #1 Many great foxes have become chickens over time. The traditional corporate mindset is one of efficiency, not effectiveness.

Chickens and foxes never mix, so comparing innovation to a fox breaking through the fence and moving outwards as a metaphor for innovation is exactly where the model of disruption is as Clayton Christensen has already described it. Eventually the fox gets hunted down by the fox hunter because the reality loops back to the chicken strategy. It is deficient because firstly it bares no relationship to the chicken farmer https://poultrykeeper.com/pests-and-predators/foxes/ and it does not notice the fox hunter, and the reality of both the farmer and the hunter in this scenario is that they are human beings - no matter how brilliant any strategy is, even if it tries to define the transforming power of innovation, it is still crafted by human beings who exercise a chicken farming or fox hunting mind. The great thing about innovation is that it meets emergence, and strategy is witchcraft when it is bound in the certainty of a theoretical model, ultimately strategy is as good as the mind that creates it and the practice or execution that makes it a strategy. Nor is strategy a theory for strategy without execution is not strategy but a nice picture of theory.

Very nice. The first Agile project I worked on turned out to be a hybrid and it was the developers who were not agile and the business end that was...this had to do with resource availability and offshore programming where deliveries of code became stories in iterations and the deliverable for iterations often didn't include finished programming,, but some other aspect of the project.

What a great article @Ekaterina Novoseltseva. I think in a day and age where people feel the pressures from internal and external factors, its important to feel in control of the work you do at work. Equally, to feel appreciated which improves productivity and gets results! Do you think this could be the new workforce trend?

#4 Yes! If you give them well use it is probable that laptops can last so much (depending on also the needs of your profession regardings its use) It is a good decision to use it as back up, sometimes their good for using them as an "external hard drive" (I don't know if this is the right term in english)

#3 I feel your pain, @NO one. I am surprised my 10 yr old laptop has lasted this long. I considered selling it since I have a new one but decided to keep it as a backup. It is smaller than my new one and easier to travel with. It's a Toshiba and I have never had a problem with it, except I wanted a larger screen. I couldn't get a Toshiba with a larger screen through my source so now I have a HP. So far, so good.

My laptop (apple) is 7 years old, since I'm a designer I need a new one, because getting mine to work again or adjusted to new design software and more space is more expensive than buying just a new one (this is sad, but what happens with tech companies, they make this on purpose to incentive consumerism). Also I'm waiting for iPhone 7 to come out, I've been having some crappy phones for the last 3 years because they were cheap. At the end, cheap phones have made it impossible for me to even download beBee app on them, I rather spend some more but knowing that my iPhone 7 (taking care of it) will last maybe 2 or 3 years and it'll be a more economic decision. That is if I don't fall into the seductive smell of new tech as you mention @Kevin Pashuk!

I am a Samsung fan. My husband and I both have a Galaxy 5. We upgrade every 2 years and so far, this model has served us real well. I have never had any of the Apple products but several computers by varying manufacturers. I have a laptop that is 10 yrs old and working perfectly. I just purchased a new laptop in order to get a larger screen. I buy mostly based on need but I am attracted to all of the bells and whistles that make the devices easy to use, innovative and fun.

These have been my smartphones ... 1). Blackberry 2). IPHONE 3 , 3) IPHONE 4 , 4) samsung galaxy 5) samsung note 4, 6) nexus 6 , and now , samsung s7 edge. Blackberries were a great thing at that time, iPhone changed the world, but the stop to innovate and I can say - in my opinion- Samsung S7 Edge is the best mobile phone by far !!!
