#1 Thank you for reading the post and commenting. My only sign on the tortoises is that they ate and moved (slowly) as they usually do. At night they sleep under a heat lamp, which was out due to the storm. Nonetheless, they survived.

You seem to have a lot of animals. Glad you saved Bob. Heat is terrible but I suspect what would have expected him after the flush is in line with the title of your post. It´s terrible to hear that people take advantage even of victims of natural disasters. How can you tell if a tortoise is happy? I always found them hard to read.

#1 There are a few InsurTech vehicles pursuing the Health route (http://www.getfitsense.com/ is a good example). Many of those that are getting press are those in the more traditional personal lines arena, likely as it is less regualated than the life market, and also in my opinion because it is easier to disrupt. Predictive analytics and AI are more prevalent in Life & Health though...

When I read your lead in - and it sends me to a link..... that sends me to another link to get the full content - your are shooting yourself in the foot while claiming to promote easier pathways. While claim payment status updates are great - that kind of jumpy CX is not fun - especially on a mobile device in a 6 second world. Just give me the right link the first time. PS - this UBER is still clearly focused on P&C lines - I haven't seen any get to the Health, Life & Supplimental lines.... and it is indeed ripe for disruption.

In the current U.S. PPACA Universal Acceptance model that is mandated by Federal Law - the Exchanges and their products do NOT function as insurance - as there is not risk mitigation nor allowance for premium variation on any real health status analysis - it is simply a grand scale illusion of a Ponzi scheme wrapped in entitlements and functioning purely on churn. .... and like the Toxic Asset Bundling of the housing market - the US 'Health Care' market is set for collapse (indeed half of the initial ACO entities have already closed - and many large insurers are abandoning markets altogether) They are calling it 'securitization' of health care - and it is the format to build 'trust' into the unfunded liabilities that they have stacked against derivative factorial projections of premium vs estimated payout.... I give it 3 years to total collapse and the loss of the Dollar with it. (if not before)

#2 This is a fair assessment Brian, and one that I have challenged a number of startups on... The regulators in the UK are reasonably Laissez-Faire with new players coming in to the insurance sector, I suspect mainly because they think they'll either fail quickly, or ultimately succeed and be bought by a large incumbent with a pre-existing regulatory/compliance structure.
    Brian McKenzie
    05/06/2016 #2 Brian McKenzie
Everybody wants to look to tech for disruption.... and forgets compliance and regulatory requirements / realities. It is why Google and Wal-Mart had to leave the Health Care Market silos. Both are powerhouses of money, tech, customer following - but they built architecture and products without a look to the ramifications of Government Intervention. And having talked to both of those entities when they were in the start up phase of development; both discounted the need for Policy Alignment and Analysis.... and yet BOTH of them abandoned the channels because of those realities. The warm crow pie that I got to deliver was not as satisfactory as knowing that I could have helped them through what they were stepping in. TECH Alone is not a solution - if you walking blindly into RISK that you haven't accounted for, haven't addressed. *Ask the NSA - but that is another rant altogether.
