In a coaching programme I learned something that I've tried to practice everytime I can, it works for me: don't give advice if you're not asked to, if someone starts to tell you something just listen (maybe that's all the person needs), if you have something to say first ask if the person wants to listen to your advice or opinion, if not you're just maybe wasting breath and time, and most of all maybe you're losing a friend's confidence.

I got severely tired of the, "You can't DO that" and "It will never work", if they bothered to respond at all, most instances of pitch were met by passive aggressive silence, the patented non response. Ps, your "no" means you can't - and i am not going forward with you. It doesnt mean "I quit."

This was my favourite phrase: "people are so used to mediocrity that they feel themselves embarrassed when someone thinks and acts out of the box." Really loved your article!!

I would say, never be in a position where you want to switch places with anyone.
