SPOILER ALERT, no matter what you may initially think, @Javier 🐝 beBee is NOT the star of this film. I wish I didn't I agree with the academy who gave Pedro the 2002 Best Original Screenplay Oscar, but I will never, ever forget the first time watching this Almodovar film and I believe it is my favorite of his movies, along with being a masterpiece.

Talk to Her ~ Hable con ella

There is no way to introduce this film. I will simply offer the one-liner from IMDB:

"Two men share an odd friendship while they care for two women who are both in deep comas."

#14 Nice to see film entries from all countries making their way to the list. I myself am a big fan of the Hong Kong films such as THE EMPEROR AND THE ASSASSIN that is the story of China's first emperor. Jet Li in FEARLESS was incredible.

I am all about the non-US scene. Most recently, I thoroughly enjoyed the layered psychological light-thriller about an adolescent writer "In the House" by François Ozon - First of all, shout out to the LL Cool J series. Second of all, I simply have to see every Kristen Scott Thomas French movie, and Third the premise is this kid writes about a friend's life and both the student & teacher are so turned on by the participatory voyeurism that things get very, very complicated.

If you want a movie that will deepen what you know about the human condition, the French are the go-to film-makers - case firmly closed. Next up I will decide my must-see Almodovar......

Oh, Lordy, so many - but given your parameters, the first film that sprang to mind was The Killing Fields. I've never walked out of a movie in my life (I'm one of these people who have to know how the d*d thing ends, no matter how rotten it is) but I almost walked out of this one, not because it was bad, but because it was too intense. I didn't think I could handle any more. Everyone should see it at least once. In the same vein, if the first twenty horrifyingly gripping minutes of Saving Private Ryan don't affect you, nothing will.

Your Michael reference reminds of a film called P.C.U. it was one of the first films that Jeremy Piven's ever did and in the film there is a guy that is working on what he calls Caine/Hackman Theory that says between the two of them you can always find a movie on with one of them in it some where at any given time.

    Thanks for the share.

Ok. Here's my contributions for more obscure films.

Little Voice with Michael Caine. Caine once talked about the films he does to pay the bills, and those he does for the art. this is the latter. Fabulous story about a young lower class girl in England with spectacular voice.

King of Hearts from the sixties, a whimsical, funny especially physical comedy-wise film with Alan Bates and Genevieve Bujold. Done in French so it's sub-titled.
