Thanks for the good buzz, Max. I think Val Kilmer was one of the best actors of his time (1980s-1990s), albeit without the appropriate credit afforded to other actors by the mainstream Hollywood feature film establishment. I blissfully recall reviewing the film, The Doors, for my college newspaper when the movie premiered on campus in March 1991. Kilmer's portrayal of Jim Morrison was masterful. Coincidentally, I recently dug up my old college newspaper scrapbook.
Here's what I wrote back then for the student newspaper at the University of Maryland: "Val Kilmer is sensational in his portrayal of Morrison. Kilmer is not only a Morrison look-a-like but a sound-a-like too. He uses his vocal talent to sing some of The Doors' songs solo. If Morrison ever had an identical twin, it is Kilmer...In making the film, Kilmer learned 50 Doors songs. In the movie, 15 are performed."
I also had some strong criticism of Oliver Stone's depiction of Morrison, but that's another story.

This was Jamie's twelve fight. He is fighting smart and has some polish, and he was always tough. Later on, he started training in Stockton and also with Eddie Futch and Hedman Lewis. They gave him a less upright posture. They taught him to roll underneath punches more. Today? He might have won a world title. Boxing was talent rich in those days, especially at the lighter weights. Jamie was also very fast, and he had that body shot. I took that punch once, and I swear I wished I was dead.
Jamie was also a nice kid and a sweet soul.
