Nothing But Blues

3K buzzes
Deriving from American culture, the blues is one of the most simple forms of music, in terms of structure, but one of the most difficult to excel at, because artists can't rely on fancy tricks to play the blues. It's played with the heart.

Whether you are already a blues music afficienado, or just wanting to learn more, whether you speak English, or another language, we'll help you learn a bit more about blues music. Feel free to upload blues related content too, and share.

Bob Dylan pops in to the Mariposa Folk Festival, in Toronto, 1972. https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/2007/07/09/dylan_at_mariposa_july_1972.html

Supposed to be a no star festival, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Gordon LIghtfoot and a lot of unanounced stars performed. Dylan just walked. Stood very close to him.

The festival had a stunning array of blues artists too, John Hammond, Rosevelt Sykes, Bukkah White, in addition to a young John Prine and Bommie Raitt. Got to chase down the program.

Just reading up on the history of blues music, and discovered that T-Bone Walker is considered by some to be the Father of electric guitar blues going back to...err, post war era, if I recall. So now I'm hunting T-Bone music. My understanding is this came out of the decline of the big band era, and it turns out that blues music used to be, at least for a short time, a winner on top of the pops and music sales, before it was supllanted by more white versions, like rockabilly (Elvis) who's first songs were actually blues songs.

Apparently T-Bone Walker was a great showman and performer. If you watch the video of stills, you'll see a picture of him playing his guitar behind his neck, something emulated by a number of more recent musicians. No idea if he set his guitar on fire!
