Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, according to numerous biographical accounts compiled in the hadiths.

JazakALLAH! Great reminder and so true @Mohammed A. Jawad! Ramadan is a month of worship, care, love, and help. It's the month where we are told to be extremely careful not to do anything that ALLAH and His Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) refrained from. Though, every day of every month is sacred and the day of true worship, but Ramadan has a specialty as rewards for good deeds in this month are multifold, and so are the rewards for bad deeds.

The last 10 days of Ramadan are the most important, as you mentioned, in terms of their sacredness and the rewards that ALLAH Subhanahoo Wa Ta'ala has promised for the believers. Our beloved Prophet (PBUH), His entire family, and His all Companions (May ALLAH Be Pleased With Them All) were used to sit in Aitekaf to spend these great 10 days, purely focusing to worship ALLAH. This is the Asharah (10 days) of Lailathul Qadr. Spending it in Shopping Malls and markets is a clear violation of the code of Ramadan Kareem and the final Asharah, set in Qur'aan by ALLAH Ezz O Jall and by His Beloved Prophet through His Sunnah (Great Deeds).

It's amazing how people in so many cultures "lose" time sitting in front of the TV, specially with soap operas, although I will admit that they're so addictive, all that drama! This share is interesting, it is always so good to know something about other cultures @Mohammed A. Jawad

I just wrote a long comment and then i accidently delted it. @Mohammed A. Jawad, comparing the goodwill and spirit leading up to Christmas only to sadly see it leave many as soon as the holiday is over. You brought up great points in this post. I also added a cute story of a recipe a Muslim friend of mine cooks during Ramadan. I doctored it a bit and he gave me a tsk, tsk for doing so. Needless to say, the next time i made it as directed :)
