Retail

+ 500 buzzes
Retail involves the sale of goods from a single point (malls, markets, department stores etc) directly to the consumer in small quantities for his end use. In a layman’s language, retailing is nothing but transaction of goods between the seller and the end user as a single unit (piece) or in small quantities to satisfy the needs of the individual and for his direct consumption.

Unfortunately, I see Apple going down the same path as Microsoft. I see a deterioration in their products and software. I wish I had never upgraded my iOS from Mavericks to El Capitan and I certainly will not upgrade to Sierra (I have read several early reports of issues with it). They let me download Mavericks again, but, they won't let me install it. How asinine.

I am Apple all the way. I love how they are able to create emotional connection and loyalty. Also love their quality, their storytelling and the simplicity and straight edge.

That they offer outstanding free customer service and make people feel valued is interesting to learn. I don´t have that experience. i guess the offer in the stores differs from what they offer online, where the free support is limited to a very short period of time. In that limited short period of time, the support is outstanding, though.

Gosh, I am typing this on a desk with no less than 6 Apple products. I would suggest any floundering retail outlet to take a trip to Tokyo where customer service is truly embedded in the culture, and then take a trip to China to see how not to do it!

Sounds like that missive was crafted by the Australian Department of Obfuscation (which is situated right next door to the Department of Silly Walks).

The world of retail (and everything else) is rapidly changing, whether we want it to or not. Those who stand still, will get run over.

And the scariest part? The change isn't driven by the practical Boomers. We had our chance to change the world... it's the Millennials that get to decide.

... and you thought Fright Night was last night?

As robotics become more and more advanced and sophisticated, there will be more and more applications for machines vs. humans. What are people going to do for work? Good question. But I like vending machines too. Hey, Donna-Luisa remember those machines with the scoop? You put your money in and tried to scoop up a prize with the steam shovel looking thing and then get it over the drop slot and drop it. It wasn't easy. Thank you, Donna-Luisa.

I am in awe of vending machines...every time I visit my doctor, I pass by one in the lobby. This week i bought a juice. It was easy, quick and great customer service. Yes @jesse kaellis, maybe vending machines can give us the real customer service experience we all desire without the drama of 'service gone bad'. I also had a pretty bad customer service experience last week. Three hours for the retail sales experience to be completed...give me a vending machine choice any day!

Thank you, Deb. The guy I ghost wrote it for made some money off of it. I didn't mind because he was trying to help me, and I enjoyed writing it. It is a viable business for a person that wants a low start-up cost and maybe needs a part-time income. Gumball and peanut machines. Or those ones with the little toys in them. I always loved those and I still like them. I got a Spongebob Squarepants in one. Like a keychain.

Coinstar are the coin machines. Their headquarters are here in the Seattle area and they are also behind Redbox and - well googled them and they make 1.8 billion in revenue. That is not chump change.
