Nice buzz, Susan. Jordan's story proves once again that age is just a number. Moreover, blanket age-based myths, fears and stereotypes have absolutely no merit regarding one's potential, performance and productivity (whether younger or older).
In my younger days -- when I was 23 and 24 -- I was most fortunate to have worked in the White House as a political appointee for the Administration of President Bill Clinton. I have written about this experience per several Producer blog posts.
Thus, kudos to Jordan and all the other people out there -- both young and old -- who are committed to reaching big goals which may at first appear out of reach.

I have been and even today, I am a great fan of German Football. But in every way, the year of 2010 belongs to Spain. During that tournament, Spain made their way to hold on the World Cup, with great spirit and they fought tough to win the Finals.

Totally agreed...also they are my favorite team and like there Tiki-taka style. (Raúl, Xabi, Iniesta and David Villa......)
    CityVP 🐝 Manjit
    26/06/2017 #18 CityVP 🐝 Manjit
There are two reasons why the fans of Barcelona today treat the late and great Johan Cruyff as God-like legend.

    1. He inspired and brought tiki-taka style of Dutch play to the Barcelona way of playing, which then became a Spanish way
    2. He championed the cause of Catalonia, and even went on to manage the Catalonia football team

There is no doubt that the Spanish team that arose between 2008 and 2012 had the results to lay claim to the greatest international team, but one cannot and should never exclude the chief architect here and that was the Dutch master Cruyff. The greatest irony for Cruyff was "anti-football" detailed here : https://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/jul/12/world-cup-final-johan-cruyff-holland

For me the most exciting team in International football is one that I was young enough at the age of 9 remember playing, and that is the 1970 World Cup winning team of Brazil. The names Jairzinho, Pelé and Rivelino are still today as magical as the masterclass they put forth in smashing Italy to win that World Cup. I have never seen anything like that ever since.

I have not endeared myself to the great efficiency of the best German teams, so naturally I am glad to see Spanish players find a style of play that was nearly as attractive but perhaps not as exhilarating as that 1970 Brazilian team when Pele was at the height of his powers.

It is indeed good for a Spanish person to be absolutely proud of the accomplishments of his countrymen and women. I would encourage this love and passion to grow, because those who otherwise would not be involved or take interest in the beautiful game, are the most welcomed when they decide to engage it.

The origins of the word "soccer." Blame the British, it originated there. Now, only countries that have another sport known as football use the term soccer (Canada, Austrailia, USA, New Zealand and maybe a few others).

I remember going to watch El Racing (they were First Division en La Liga then!) play with my host brother in Santander. I had never seen anything like a First Division futbol game in Spain before. Talk about a cultural experience!

The game has really grown here in the US. It's far from the most popular sport but it has really taken off in the last 25 years. I remember when we didn't even have a Division 1 pro league in the US or Canada. Soccer was played at the amateur level (and mostly just by kids).

Television has also helped grow the game here. When I was a kid we didn't have any exposure to European futbol. You couldn't even read about it the newspaper or magazines. Now, you can watch all the games from all the leagues around the world on tv. European games make the highlights on Sports Center.

Hosting the World Cup in 1994 made the difference. That is when things started to change. We got a Division 1 league again shortly thereafter with the MLS. It's not European futbol but at least we have a decent league now where our players can develop. Fans can go watch a game live with their friends and family.

Read more about the origins of the word soccer via this link:

#8 To keep American football separate from European football, I think of the German spelling: "futbol" as being the European game. How is it actually spelled, referred to, pronounced in Spanish?
Which gets me thinking: HOW they could call what American do "Foot" ball as the foot has very little to do with the game, they should have called it: "Crash into to each other and cause permanent brain damage ball" They took Rugby and crossed it with bumper cars and came up with American Football :-).

And Spain is definitely on my and my daughters bucket list to 'see'
