#8Thank you Paul. Yes RSS is easier than people think. Here is a website that allows you create your own RSS feeds that can be added to your website or used in digital signage software. www.rssfeeedexpert.com You can set up a free account. Some signage systems push alerts but not considered an automated SMS broadcast. Interesting concept.

#10 On www.myTweetPack.com we build our own if they don't already exist. That's what we do to mine beBee Producer posts. With feeds, posts, videos, etc can autoload and auto-promote. The only issue I have with RSS services is that they often limit how often they can be polled.

We poll hourly which precludes many services. I never looked at rssfeedexpect.com though. It may not be an issue

Nice use of tech, particularly the RSS integration (which is a lot easier than most people think, including me until recently)

For information distribution to a known list, I wonder if automated SMS broadcast wouldn't be as efficient. Or, a decent Wi-Fi system that can push alerts as needed. Better yet, why not all three methods?

#1 Yes that is an option as well Wayne. However Raspberry Pi is basic and aimed at education market, and would not be suitable for a large corporation wanting to display digital signage messages and use database content collection and display of multiple documents such as spreadsheets, PDFs, etc. But thank you for your input.

#2 Thank you Julio, interesting. We are finding in the UK that more people are looking at digital signage solutions for communicating with their audience, 'bee' that schools or corporate or retail, for the advantages over having a video or PowerPoint. Digital signage allows you to schedule presentations so in a restaurant for example, you can display a breakfast menu presentation early in the morning and change for a lunch time menu with RSS feeds of special offers for customers, etc., and once set up, it updates itself automatically. Great for people sat in an office with screens worldwide, and update it on the cloud. However, its back to what people are familiar with and not everyone has the time nor inclination to try something new.
