I feel your pain, I do. But I've been in Asia now for 28 years. I used to complain and compare. But after a while I figured out that Asia is a pretty cool place to hang out. I don't have to worry about getting burgled, mugged, shot. I don't worry about my children getting into drugs. Yes there is inherent racism here, but it is usually not hateful as it can be in the West. As for China, well China only recently opened its doors so give it time. People are still wary of outsiders especially considering the constant rhetoric we hear of people dishing China. Being part Japanese, I've experienced racism here like you could not imagine, but it is no worse than I've experienced in the UK or America. Thailand if a fabulous country that tickles the senses. I'm sure a few years from now you will look back on your experiences with fondness.

I remember once hearing that there are two kinds of people in the world, those that like water and those that like mountains. I happen to think that anyone who believes there are only two kinds of people is not staying present to the wonder and joy surrounding us every single moment. There is always someone new to meet, something new to see, and a fresh way of spending our day.

I am so grateful to be able to travel to Trinidad through your eyes, @Donna-Luisa Eversley, and experience the hills and views of a place many miles from my current terrain.
