TRAIN YOUR SUPERVISORS! Your front-line management is probably awful. -- only 1 in 4 employees "strongly agree" that their manager provides meaningful feedback to them, that feedback they receive helps them do better work. -- Only 21% of employees strongly agree that their performance is managed in a way that motivates them to do outstanding work. -- 87% of first-time leaders feel frustrated, anxious and uncertain about their new role, -- Only 11% said they were groomed for that role through some developmental training or program. And there is this: • 35% of US workers would forgo a raise to see their boss fired • 44% of employees say they have been emotionally or physically abused by a supervisor • 3 of 4 workers say that their boss is the worst / most stressful part of the job Teach your supervisors how to facilitate active workplace involvement and the sharing of best practices among the players. Build teams. Remove some of the things that prevent / roadblock supervisors from having time / resources to do what they basically WANT to do. Hell, who wants an adversarial, uncooperative, unmotivated workforce reporting to them. FORGET THIS SENIOR MANAGER LEADERSHIP TRAINING STUFF - it does not trickle down in any meaningful way.
