    I worked on 3 major projects. Simplified Interline Settlement (SIS), an IATA mandatory project to implement paperless ticket reconciliation. For this project, I analysed the business requirements, specified, designed, coded and implemented 6 new IMS online applications (screens) and made changes to several other screens. I also created the project test plans and implementation plan and schedule. All major functionality for this project has been delivered on time to a very strict deadline. Aer Arann Take-on, a project to support closer cooperation between Aer Lingus and Aer Arann. I carried out a full impact analysis on the online and batch systems to identify the changes required and to develop the test plan for the project. Revenue reporting Stabilisation, an on-going project is to address any shortcomings in the revenue reporting system.

    Worked on bank's core book keeping system. Managed the development of the IT systems and business processes for RBS’s bonus offer system to provide greater flexibility in the way bonus interest schemes are used to increase deposits held by the bank. Developed the IT systems and the business processes to extract data from the banks core accounting systems to enable the bank to meet its regulatory requirements for the UK’s Asset Protection Scheme. Performed the “back book marking” of loan accounts to identify if accounts were to be subject to Consumer Credit Act regulation. • Managed the day to day running of teams of up to 5 people, comprised of senior and junior developers, DBAs and technical analyst’s in Ireland and India, to deliver changes in regulatory and business requirements for delivery of projects with budgets ranging €50k-€500k. Created documentation & project deliverables for RBS’s PRINCE 2 based project management methodology.

    Converted legacy MicroFocus Cobol banking system from ISAM database to DB2. Installed and configured DB2, COBOL development and run-time environments and configured the Linux servers. Wrote DB2 stored procedures and DB2 triggers to create audit records for database updates. • Production support of banking system and DB2 and responding to helpdesk queries. The investigation of problems sometimes identified bugs in system software i.e. DB2 and COBOL, in those cases I coordinated with the vendors of the software and devise test plans for upgraded system software. Configured DB2, ACUCobol and the ACUCobol DB2 interface on a Linux platform. This was the first time that this combination was ever used in a production environment. Testing of this combination led to both ACUCorp and IBM introducing changes to their products.

Worked in five different project groups as follows: (1) Branch Payments Project, development of a mission critical high volume online system to allow branch-generated transactions to be fed to the overnight batch system. (2) On-line Project. Team lead for the team maintaining the of the banks retail on-line system. (3) CACS (Computer Aided Collection System) new interface testing. (4) Software Quality Assurance group. I supported and managed the IMS test environment (batch and on-line) for the project groups developing front-end applications such as banking 365. Management of the IMS test databases and running batch systems for the system test of the new front-end applications. I also maintained an error tracking and reporting system written in MS-Access. (5) Bookkeeping Enhancements group. Small changes to the core bookeeping system working on a 4-6 week release cycle.
