Automation Engineer – Senior Analyst


Job Location: Galway


Role Value Proposition:


The purpose of the AMS Application Improvement team is to improve MetLife processes and technology to create high quality, stable products that service our customers. Our automation engineers are driven by professional curiosity and a desire to develop a deep understanding of services we support and the technologies they depend upon, and they able to work on projects to replace manual, repetitive processes with automation and next generation technologies. As part of Application Improvement, this person helps deliver automation initiatives to drive down manual activity.


Key Responsibilities:


- Assists with creating apps or scripts to automate operational tasks and incorporate the solutions into our platform.


- Work with team to leverage technical experience and metrics to identify improvement and automation opportunities


- Identify opportunities for the continual refinement of automation


- Collaborate with broader organization to identify opportunities and solve operational problems using innovative tools/processes.


- Repair impacted automations to ensure higher levels of autonomic success


- Work with team to gather details to enhance automation


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


- Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field


- 3-5 years’ experience in Application Development or Maintenance


- 2+ years experience with scripting in at least 1 scripting language. (PowerShell, Bash, Perl, JavaScript, etc.)


- Experience with REST API or in Python/Java programming is a plus


- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


- Strong verbal & written communication skills


- Experience with presenting findings and recommendations


- Strong interpersonal skills and international cultural awareness


Preferred Experience:


- Experience working in Agile frameworks, like Scrum and Kanban


- Cloud, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Containers


- Working knowledge of monitoring tools, such as AppDynamics or Splunk


- Working knowledge of the ITIL framework & Lean Six Sigma


- Experience in infrastructure or technology operations


- Working knowledge of DevOps principles


- Experience working with offshore teams and vendor delivery partners


- Service Now and Jira Experience


- Finance/Insurance industry experience


- Bilingual (Spanish/English/Japanese), is a plus
