Solutions Architect - 000000232388Title: Solutions ArchitectWho you are: You will engage with a broad range of contacts within customer organisations to determine the most appropriate technology solution that meets the needs of both the customer and Vodafone. You will respond to requests for new technology or technology-derived solutions from the customer, but will also be responsible for pro-actively identifying new opportunities to deploy solutions within the customer’s environment.You assist sales teams in realising pipeline opportunities through the creation of solutions that utilise the products and services that exist within the ECS and Vodafone Product Portfolios. This is a customer-facing role that provides pre-sales capability to the Enterprise Solutions team. The Solution Architect will have a detailed understanding of the products and services that apply to the Product Portfolios as well as a good understanding of the customer base. Your team: The Solution Design team is responsible for creating solutions to realise complex customer requirements. We are responsible for the overall service and technical architecture of the solution to be proposed to the customer. We produce clear, robust and implementable designs for customers. We generate positive perception from customers about Vodafone’s expertise in the Enterprise area. Our team sits with the ECS area of Vodadone. ECS is a specialist professional services unit with key technical product ownership from presale design to Sale, onto delivery and then in life Customer Care. The key product areas for this group will be IPVPN, IPT, LAN, IT Security, Fixed to mobile convergence, Unified Communications and related products. The next challenge for you:• Responsible for understanding, designing & documenting requirements for the solutions in their designated technology area(s) (WAN, WLAN, LAN, UC, Security etc).• Design Experience required in at least 2 of the technology areas – WAN, LAN, WLAN, UC, Security • Single point of contact for business and customer during requirements capture phase. This constitutes the role of Technical Design Authority (TDA)• Creation of solution designs to solve specific customer problems, starting from agreed requirements moving through conceptual and logical to physical designs; Understanding the limits of selected products / technologies and identifying high level options that can fulfil customer business need / fit with Strategy• Ability to understand the customer’s business requirements and drivers and to be able to transform them into tangible technical requirements and solutionsSales• Responsible for technical support to commercial discussions, including bid qualification• Responsible for providing costs for Finance approval. This includes responsibility for maintaining a relationship with Enterprise and Vendor contacts in order to obtain costs and validate configurations.• Responsible for providing the technical component of bid material for Account Manager/Sales• Responsible for supporting the Account Manager during the bid discussions with the customer• Responsible for presenting the technical solution to client at peer levelDesign• Responsible for understanding and capturing the customer requirements, using additional resources where appropriate• Responsible for translating customer requirements into Vodafone language, product-set, etc., and producing design documentation according to Enterprise standards.• Responsible for liaising with Enterprise, Product Management and other subject matter experts where additional product knowledge is required• Responsible for articulating the technical solution to service and project management colleagues and ensuring that the solution design provides for a straight-forward deployment and meets the Enterprise Operational requirements• Responsible for ensuring that all designs include an appropriate Enterprise network or solution management component to support monitoring, reporting and capacity planning• Responsible for gaining sign off for technical design (customer & internal)• Responsible for supporting the Project team, if required, to ensure customer project sign offIn Life• Establish a technical/engineering relationship with the client at peer level• Ensuring that the customers are kept up to date with the Managed Service and Product Portfolios• Identifying new business opportunities and co-developing them
