In Ireland, Abbott employs more than 3,200 people across 11 sites. Abbott has six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. It has commercial operations in Dublin and shared services in Dublin and Westport.Abbott serves the Irish market with a diverse range of health care products including diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946.

In Donegal we are currently going through an expansion as we introduce new technology and equipment to manufacture the Libre Freestyle Sensor which is groundbreaking in the management of Diabetes. As part of the expansion we have a requirement for a Quality Engineer.

We are now looking for Quality Engineer and this position will include the following:


The Role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality systems, ensuring the site delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance.


Responsibilities include:

- Build positive relationships and coordinated communications to site leadership team including presenting at monthly management reviews.
- Champion a culture of attention to detail while being accountable for incoming inspection of raw materials and liaising with vendors on quality issues/performance.
- You will be tasked with the initiation of Exception Reports for discrepancies observed during inspection / testing and review activities.
- You will develop a deep understanding of the site validation and calibration programmes.
- You will ensure compliance with Abbott policies and procedures regarding the Environment, Health and Safety.
- Build on your knowledge of internal and external audits being part of a team executing these onsite.
- Updating Standard Operating Procedures.
- Craft and maintain Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) programs.
- You will play an integral role in ensuring that the Quality Management System is fully implemented and effective.
- Working with the manufacturing departments to assist in maintaining quality in production.
- Performing analysis of chemical raw materials onsite and the impact to the manufacturing process.
- Performing final inspection of sensor strip lots including documentation review and final product release.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management.
- You will display excellent communication / social skills.
- Hardworking and ambitious with the ability to integrate quickly into a team environment.


Education and Experience Required

- Third level Science / Engineering or Manufacturing qualification with two years experience.
- Two years in a Manufacturing / Science or Engineering environment
