About the Position:
The Education Coordinator is part of the multi- disciplinary team of Rainbow Homes at State level. She/he works in close coordination with homes, partners & peer group within Rainbow Homes reporting directly the to State Program Manager. The position is open for RFI-Delhi.
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring quality and comprehensive education for children in the Rainbow Homes. We look not just to improved academic performance, but also critical thinking, scientific temper, emotional strength, empathy and compassion, responsible citizenship, and social understanding. She/he will be in charge of the over-all comprehensive education programme for all children that is followed in the homes, ensuring all facilities are in place and functional, ensuring suitable educators are available in each home and a system of need-based teaching/learning is in place and is being followed. The Education Coordinator also interacts with the schools where children are admitted and engages with the authorities in evolving creative solutions for the benefit of children.
Provide planning support to educators and direct implementation team for quality education in line with the organisation’s education strategy and values support implementation of plans
Help develop lesson plans for both academic and life education components of the design
Monitor and track the progress of children and take decisions for course correction if needed
Design & implement education programs, tools, methods, courses for Rainbow Home children
Ensure comprehensive academic plan is prepared for every child in Rainbow Homes
Encourage & strengthen talent mentoring programme within the homes
Establishing linkages with various resource agencies to provide academic support and recreational opportunities
Establish knowledge banks/libraries in each home and establish strong system to operationalise the same
Organise regular capacity building of the teachers in Rainbow homes and other team members implementing different aspects of education
Ensure academic plans for children for long vacations
Identify & train set of volunteers to support in conducting remedial & subject specific teaching classes
Drive impact assessment; identify areas of improvement and improvise effective delivery methods
Follow ethical and value frame work of the organisation while working with diverse stakeholders
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
A demonstrable commitment to and understanding of education not just as improved academic performance, but also critical thinking, scientific temper, emotional strength, empathy and compassion, responsible citizenship, and social understanding.
Formal training in school education, such as a post-graduate/Graduate + B. Ed. with 8 years’ experience or M. Ed. with 4+ years’ experience in the area of Education/ School/Development Studies.
Experience in developing lesson plans and tracking educational progress and learning outcomes
Empathetic, sensitive to needs of disadvantaged children and have high integrity
Should be academically inclined, believes in life-long learning and remains educationally updated
Experience of conducting trainings, developing curriculums, designing teaching methodologies
Ability to organise development programs for the teams and teachers in the area of education
Ability to work with diversified teams and a good team player
Willingness to travel as required by the program needs.
High quality of written and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently & managing emergency situations
Proficiency in English and Hindi is essential
Salary: The salary package would be Rs.40,000/- commensurate with experience.
