Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kolkata is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the

position of Lead Maintenance Technician in the Management/GSO/Maintenance Section.

The work schedule for this position: Full Time; 48 hours per week


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4

weeks – 12 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their

candidacy may end.


Supervisory Position: No


Duties


Check, review and receive GMMS work orders, revises/ plans and assigns the tasks to the

appropriate tradesmen. Monitor submitted requests, receives necessary expendable supplies

and equipment from supply stores, adjusts work load to meet emergencies and demands in the

installation, renovations, maintenance and repair. Overhaul of all types of equipment and

appliances. Incumbent oversees day to day maintenance and repair work performance of

team of Electricians, A/C technicians, Plumbers, Carpenter, Mason, Welder, Trades Helper and

Painter cum Mason to complete GMMS work orders. Reads blue prints, single line diagrams

and explains to the technicians along with update of Electrical SLD and layout drawings to

match with as built layout. Provides on job training to the electricians and A/C Technicians.

Also provides necessary inputs of work orders to the GMMS portal to close and complete work

orders. Responsible to maintain inventory of expendable supply materials tools and tackles,

PPE, ground equipment and firefighting equipment.


Along with the Maintenance Supervisor inspects new or empty, occupied apartments, as per

advice of Maintenance Supervisor, prepares list of work required for make readies, repair and

PM works. Oversees contractor’s work to ensure that the work is done as per statement of work

and quality is acceptable.


Qualifications and Evaluation


Education:

Completion of High School (equivalent to class 10 in India) with a vocational course from ITI in

any of the technical field such as electrical, or air conditioning and refrigeration or mechanical

trade from a recognized Industrial Training Institute.


Requirement:

Five years as a technician at a large technical maintenance establishment.


Evaluations:

English Level III (Good working knowledge in speaking, reading and writing) is required.


Hindi and Bengali level III (Good working knowledge in speaking, reading and writing) is


required.


Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security

certifications.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re- employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
