What is the Manager - Asia Corporate Accounting in Corp Accounting group responsible for?

The Manager –Corporate Accounting assists the VP Finance by managing the accounting staff undertaking accounting functions for FT Group’s operations in Asia regions (ITME). The responsibilities inter alia include:

Management of the team and guiding team members

Assisting the VP Finance in support to the business operations in ITME.

Ensuring that the Company’s internal control standards, accounting standards and policies are adhered to and assisting in development of such policies

Ensuring that the Company’s financial records are in compliance with GAAP and respective local regulatory requirements.

Ensuring efficient and effective timely delivery of External and Internal Financial Reports

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Manager - Asia Corporate Accounting?

Strategic Financial guidance and support

Assist in the support to business initiatives in Asia.

Department development:

Assist VP Finance in developing and maintenance of a strong, motivated and skilled team to meet the changing needs of the business in Asia

Provide management support to the departments in Asia.

Develop, coach, motivate and manage performance of team to achieve responsibilities of department.

Develop and maintain a customer service focus for the team.

Monitor staff reviews process to ensure appropriate career feedback is provided at all levels within the group.

Operational Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities:

Supervise allocated corporate accounting areas for Asia.

Ensure timely update of books of accounts as per the local GAAP.

Assist in the resolution of complex accounting issues.

Provide guidance to staff in handling and resolving accounting issues.

Provide support to Business Unit Heads /supervisors/senior.

Review documentation and ensure compliance with GCAP policies, and ensure proper internal controls.

Monitor the cashflows for Asia entities to assess liquidity requirements and ensure efficient utilization of cash resources of the Company.

Guidance and implementation on various new initiatives of global teams.

Monthly Responsibilities:\

Perform monthly close for assigned entities.

Ensure proper explanations are given for variances in balances.

Update senior management the cost reduction measures, regular compliance and updates on accounting policies, and provide solution with proper explanation and respond to the queries, if any.

Review Month end close process for assigned entities.

Quarterly and Periodic Responsibilities:

Review internal audit reports and ensure comments of the same including suitable follow up to sort out pending issues

Review various monthly schedules and ensure follow up of the reports for speedy adjustment in books

Review schedules to be submitted to the statutory auditors for year-end audits and tax year-end audits.

Manage team activities to ensure compliance with the Company’s Internal Control Standards, Accounting Standards and Policies.

Manage team activities to ensure effective and efficient timely delivery of Internal and External Financial reports, including local statutory and regulatory reports.

Review and ensure 10K and 10Q like reports were submitted before the due date to SEC reporting group.

Update the quarterly and annual Intangible Asset Impairment template and Analysis Memo files for assigned entities to determine impairment, if any, under US GAAP.

Other Responsibilities:

Prepare and review the information for survey’s

Provide necessary documentary evidence for review of Treasury and Banking functions as per the requirement of the respective auditors.

Update the BCP plan for Corporate Accounting department.

Updated the global policies/ procedures documents with the policies/procedures for Asia region

Coordinate with other departments to ensure resolution of issues.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Required Education & Training

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with coursework in intermediate and advanced accounting.

CA or equivalent preferred.

Financial services experience may be beneficial


Nine to Ten years of financial accounting experience. Prior public accounting experience preferred.

Experience with automated financial systems, including a general ledger is preferred.

Proficiency in Excel and Word is required.

Thorough knowledge of local GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP required.

Knowledge and exposure to International accounting issues, currency translation and consolidations preferred.

Knowledge and exposure to international accounting and financial issues, currency translation and consolidations is required.

Knowledge of financial products and international transactions is preferred.

Special skills:

Applicants must have strong project management and decision-making skills.

Applicants must have good all-round business awareness and the ability to handle a wide range of financial matters.

Applicants must have good management skills and the ability to develop and adapt a strong team to the demanding and continually growing needs of the business.
