Description

Direcly reporting to the Group CFO, the candidate will:

Provides the CFO with an ongoing and up-to-date understanding of the Italian company's current financial position relative to budget. This includes the preparation and coordination of budgets, plans, and forecasts vis-a-vis actual results. Provides the CFO with timely information and analysis which ensures that critical operating and strategic decisions can be made in the context of understanding their financial impact; this includes early alert to both opportunities and problem areas Develops, establishes and refines accounting policies and procedures with the CFO and local accounting advisors for the preparation, control and reporting of the financial activities of the Italian company which are consistent with IFRS for corporate reporting and with Italian fiscal reporting requirements and regulations. Ensures the development and maintenance of accurate accounting data entry, as well as an effective internal control system in the Italian company for all assets (Cash, Inventory, Receivables, Capital Assets, etc.) through comprehensive policies and procedures, reconciliations, segregation of duties and approvals, internal audit programs and manages the local audit process including interface with fiscal, taxation and external auditors.

Ensures a timely and accurate month-end closing process and production of financial statements and reports to the head office the results and financial statements on a timely basis under both IFRS and local Italian fiscal requirements and standards. Reviews the monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close process, including analytical review of the operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained. Ensures the proper processing of the local payroll, including adherence to all local payroll taxes and social security contributions, and ensures related accounting transactions are accurately recorded. Oversees inventory management and the accurate recording of inventory from both an existence and valuation perspective, ensuring periodical counts and assessment for obsolescence. Assists the CFO in the preparation of the required reports and responds to requests for management information and for the Board.




Qualifications and Experience:University or professional accounting diploma / designation; Previous experience in an accounting role for a commercial organization; Accounting studio or audit firm experience would be an asset but not required; Excellent Excel skills and experience; Good understanding of ERP systems; Good understanding of IFRS; Good general Italian statutory and taxation knowledge, including VAT A dynamic self-starter with "roll up the sleeves", hands-on role where staff support is minimal; Fluently bilingual, Italian and English.
