Job summary

The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for an IT DevOps Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be involved in the development of innovative software, supporting our product team. You’ll be part of an agile DevOps team and will gain familiarity with the life cycles of our offerings, including backlog grooming, planning, implementation, testing, support, and demonstrations. As an IT DevOps Intern, you will help build and improve many of our supporting tools and gain exposure to many innovative DevOps tools like Docker, Ansible by Red Hat, and Puppet. This is also a great opportunity to gain experience in building and deploying modern web applications in a CI/CD environment.
Primary job responsibilities

Work as part of an agile team to continuously communicate status and complete deliverables on schedule
Design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications
Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and maintainability
Develop tools, scripts, and code to help improve application deployment processes
Improve monitoring and data analysis tools
Participate in DevOps functions
Collaborate with other teams to deliver customer value
Required skills

Experience with scripting languages; direct programming experience with Ruby or Java is a plus
Understanding of Agile project methodologies
Familiarity with DevOps and continuous delivery (CD) concepts
Highly motivated with outstanding ability to handle multiple tasks at once
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of object-oriented design is an advantage
Ability to work in Linux-based systems, including administration, provisioning, and configuration management experience is a plus
