Munich Re, Japan Branch was established in July 2017 as a composite reinsurance branch in order to serve both life and non-life clients in the Japanese market. The Japan Branch is given the full mandate necessary by Munich Re’s board to run the business in Japan and it is staffed with highly skilled world-class professionals in diverse disciplines.


Prepare financial and other statutory/regulatory/tax reports and special analyses for the branch operations
Assist with the development and implementation of financial, tax and statutory accounting and management reporting processes, by keeping up to date with IFRS and local tax and accounting regulations
Assist with the establishment and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
Prepare Home Office reporting and communicate with counterparts
Prepare required materials for budget and communicate with related parties
Support Manager for external and internal audits and inspections
Proactively collaborate in the team to achieve business imperatives


Accounting Degree or Insurance qualifications
About 5 years of experience in the accounting sector
Official Business Skill Test in Book-Keeping, 2nd Grade or its equivalent
Preferably some experience gained in the accounting sector of an insurance company
Experience in analysing financial data and preparation of committee materials
Basic knowledge of finance, accounting, tax, budgeting and/or cost controls principles including IFRS and/or JGAAP
Basic knowledge of ASBJ standards, Insurance Business Law, tax laws and/or regulations impacting the Insurance / Reinsurance Industry
Strong computer skills
Detail oriented, excellent organization skills and a good team player
Good English verbal and written communication skills
