About the job
Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Edge Network Deployment team is responsible for operating network reliably at scale. The team leads the full life cycle of all space, power and network assets in all of Google’s metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, the team is involved from site acquisition to construction and is accountable for what space and power is delivered. Once that infrastructure is delivered, the team is involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Once up, this team must ensure the network stays up and is well positioned to turn up growth-generating service at industry-leading intervals.
As a Deployment Lead on the Edge Network Deployment team, you'll be on the front lines of our efforts to deploy and maintain private data networks worldwide. You'll work with Network Architects and Engineers, Design Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, Strategic Negotiators and Technical Project Managers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position the various network nodes accountable for success.
You will also use your experience in optical transport, data centers and colocation, as well as your familiarity with the local metropolitan areas to which you are accountable to affect positive outcomes and facilitate faster, better and more efficient outcomes. Your team's objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable optical transport network to support users globally.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We're always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Position Google resources to deliver network infrastructure projects, service orders, repair and maintenance tickets, on time or within Service Level Agreements.
Serve as a primary point of contact representing the metro space in which you reside for all stakeholders and customers as it relates to everything from space and power to network infrastructure and service readiness.
Ensure sufficient consumables, tools, test sets and other means are available to position local teams for meeting objectives.
Lead continuous process improvement and work with internal teams and third parties to constantly create greater values for our end-users, customers and stakeholders.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure fire, security, power, HVAC and other critical systems are periodically tested and maintained.
