As the Head of Ethics & Investigations, you will lead the Ethics and Investigations Team, who are responsible for maintaining Our Code of Conduct (including training) and triaging and managing business conduct investigations, as part of the Ethics and Investigations Framework for BHP internal investigations. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the responsibilities of the role include:
Leads the Ethics and Core Investigations Team.
Supports the design, implementation and governance of BHP’s Ethics and Investigations Framework.
Draws on developments in international best practice, regulatory guidance and learnings from investigations to drive continuous enhancement of the Ethics and Investigations Framework.
Leads the team responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of BHP’s EthicsPoint system, including:
Timely assessment and triaging of cases;
Maintaining confidentiality of Ethics-related activities to the fullest extent possible;
Monitoring matters recorded in the EthicsPoint case management system; and
Preparation of statistical reports related to EthicsPoint activity.
Oversees preparation of Investigation Framework training materials and delivery of training to additional designated resources and stakeholders.
Guides / advises personnel undertaking business conduct investigations.
Directs investigations, including by:
Devising investigation plans;
Undertaking or supervising forensic review of data and information;
Conducting interviews; and
Preparing supporting documentation for investigations, including records of witness accounts and investigation reports.
Prepares briefings to senior management on the progress of investigations and findings. 
Collates data and reports on investigations and the efficacy / scope for improvements to the Investigations Framework.
Supports engagement with key stakeholders.
Manages external counsel within partner law firms.

About You

You will have a strong academic background in a Legal discipline, coupled with experience working in corporate, government, and/or forensic investigations.  You will have gained strong experience managing a team tasked with investigating complex and sensitive matters which may potentially have serious disciplinary or criminal consequences for employees. You will also possess a solid understanding of forensic technology issues, including legal and regulatory evidence preservation obligations.
Please note this role requires regular travel to support regional investigations.
