MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
 
Business partnering the Chief Supply Chain Officer and the Chief Procurement Officer and their leadership teams.  Attending the SCLT, Supply Chain Leaders Forum and UPLT meetings.
There are over 50 WL4+ in supply chain in global procurement roles, global category roles, global capabilities, product groups and clusters.
 
Responsible for legal, risk management and compliance advice on the global, cluster and CBM projects.  These comprise of the most important and high-risk matters requiring legal support in the supply chain. It includes advising WL4+ supplier risk issues and supplier disputes.  This role will be responsible for sharing best practice for all legal support prior provided locally to supply chain.

Provide legal support across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia

navigate them, providing legally compliant creative solutions which deliver competitive advantage to the business objectives taking into account cost, risk and other consequences.

Ensures legal compliance of Category projects, activities and contracts.

Autonomously identify and manage legal and contract risks, their impact and practically how to manage/comply with these

Develop and deliver relevant guidance and training

Legal Advice

Supply Chain:
Autonomously draft and advise on procurement

agreements including complex agreements

Tax / regulatory advice relating to import / export agreements

Dispute Resolution and Litigation

Insurance & coverage

Competition act and consumer protection act

Advise on ongoing issues and help manage supplier relationships

 
Training
Relevant Supply Chain law issues, including training and advice to Brand Building on the application of law in the context of business objectives, including Marketing and IP law.

Trains and advises Supply Chain on the application of law in the context of business objectives, including competition law agreements including complex agreements

Tax / regulatory advice relating to import / export agreements

Dispute Resolution and Litigation

Insurance & coverage

Competition act and consumer protection act

Advise on ongoing issues and help manage supplier relationships

 
Functional Leadership (Internal)

Supply Chain - With the support of the relevant SC&ES GC, develop and deploy global solutions and practices

Autonomously develop the other in-house lawyers who advise in this area to ensure [ES and] the Procurement function is partnered and supported consistently

Functional Leadership (External)
Understanding of all relevant laws and new legislation and communicate the impact to the business

Track legal developments and best practice

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 10 years working experience as Corporate Legal Counsel
Law university degree
Knowledge in M&A, IP
Supply Chain Contracts and Commercial Law
Code Compliance
Corporate Law
