What you’ll be doing...
Network is the core part of Verizon’s business.
As a valuable member of our Beijing Network Operations team, we’re looking for someone with a passion working in the network environment! You will be taking care of the installation, testing and maintenance of telecommunications and associated electronic equipment and wiring per specifications and operational procedures, within the Data Centre, Verizon Networks, and the Customer’s premises.
Performs and supports all install and maintenance activity in accordance with operational procedures.
Independently undertake the implementation, commissioning and maintenance of equipment deployed throughout our network, data centers and customer facilities.
Performs and supports testing and turn up of circuits with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and working.
Performs and supports the maintenance of network and customer circuits 7x24 through troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques.
Utilizes remote test systems to isolate and resolve customer circuit outages and impairments.
Performs and supports solution implementation for customers, including attending customer meetings, conducting site surveys and network assessments, preparing report on site survey findings, and coordinating customers and vendors on site preparation.
Performs and supports the assembly, installation, configuration and/or testing of transmission equipment, DACCS, Add/Drop Mux, channel service units (CSU), digital service units (DSU), modems, routers, bridges, multiplexers, concentrators, servers etc., along with associated wiring and cabling.
Supervise local carriers, vendors and contractors working on Verizon technical facilities and/or customer premise locations.
Perform equipment installation and/or over-head and under-floor cabling in Central Office, Point of Presence (POP) or Customer Premises environment.
Lifting equipment for shipping/receiving or installation/de-commission. The weight of the equipment will be dependent upon local OH&S legislation.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Fluency in Chinese and English. You will be dealing with teams in Manila, EMEA, and US.
Knowledge of WAN/LAN networking and latest technology, including all areas of networking equipment from transmission Add Drop mux, DACCS, MPLS node, DWDM, mesh network, SONET and SDH technology, IP layer 2 and 3 technology, routing protocol, unified communication, VMWare, and cloud architecture.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Willingness to work extended hours, including being on call to provide 7 day x 24 hour disaster support.
Experience with Microsoft Office and email.
Even better if you have:
Familiarity with Verizon network setup, principles, theories, concepts and technologies and the ability to make independent judgment, and direct and supervise PTT/vendor based on applied knowledge of procedures and practices.
Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask and balance competing priorities.
Cisco Certified Network Administrator/Professional (CCNA/CCNP) or higher.
Certifications in Microsoft server software, VMware, IT security and unified communications.
Project management experience and/or certification.
