Overall purpose of role
The Relationship Manager will be responsible:
managing inbound opportunities for clients based in the US, Asia and the Middle East
assuming Global Relationship Manager (GRM) responsibilities for new and existing clients in European jurisdictions outside branch countries (e.g., for Scandinavian clients)
assume GRM responsibilities for new countries that will be added to the core platform including Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland until recruitment for these countries is complete
 
Location - any European branch including:
             Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Luxembourg, Milan, Frankfurt, Lisbon
 
Working hours: Relationship Manager will have to comply with US or Asia continent timezone  
 
 
Key Accountabilities
 
Capture and help deliver European opportunities originated in the US, Asia and the Middle East by being the key point contact for early stage opportunities for colleagues and clients across these International Corporate Banking (ICB) corridors
Work seamlessly with the rest of the NBFI Europe team to hand-off client opportunities if appropriate to In-Country Relationship Manager (CRMs)
Develop and implement clear client strategies by NBFI sector for other European jurisdictions (e.g., Scandinavia) to complement the delivery of Barclays’ European Corporate Banking proposition.
Where appropriate work closely with Group partners in Corporate Bank, Investment Bank, Barclaycard, Wealth and Barclays UK to ensure client strategy is defined and executed in a way which delivers maximum value for Barclays Group and our clients.
Ensure that as first line of defence, risk appetite (conduct, credit, financial crime) is regularly reviewed and updated for the country of operation in conjunction with second line of defence business partners, Head of NBFI Europe and Barclays Bank Ireland (BBI), and the business is executed in line with risk appetite.
Deliver on strategic and ad-hoc projects as defined by the Head of NBFI Europe, for example structural reform.

Strong communicator with good leadership skills – able to engage and partner across Barclays, and demonstrate emotional intelligence in dealings with others.
High impact - ability to influence others, for the benefit of the business. Challenge the ‘norm’ in order to ensure more effective ways of delivering to clients.
Ability to engage effectively and with impact at a senior level internally and within client organisations
Develop constructive and influential senior relationships with key business partners specifically:
Compliance
ICB country leadership teams and specifically Western Europe ICB senior country management to communicate NBFI strategy, resourcing and execution plans for the local market.
