ING is looking for a Senior Environmental Social Risk ("ESR") Advisor.

We support ING’s risk management strategy with the development and application of Environmental and Social Risk (ESR) Policies. These policies refer to a wide spectrum of areas such as energy, mining and metals, agro-commodities, manufacturing and defence among others. By applying these policies consistently, we promote positive change and support our clients in achieving an improved sustainability performance. This is also translated into an improved risk profile of our client portfolio and therefore a more robust balance sheet for ING.

Job description:

To support the ESR Team manage environmental and social risk by:

Advice- Advising on Wholesale Banking (WB) transactions and clients to ensure compliance with ING’s Environmental and Social Risk framework including the Equator Principles. You will provide ESR recommendation to risk approval authorities for engagements in various types of transactions originated globally; Engage- Engagement with clients and other peer banks on transaction level on ESR related matters, including environmental and social risk assessment documentation, mitigation plans and monitoring; Monitor – Monitoring of WB Asia Pacific client portfolio, including regular contact with senior management in WB Asia Pacific; Develop - Support the development and promotion of ESR Policy areas not yet covered by the ESR Framework a/o adjustment of existing ones to assure relevance and adequacy with market challenges and trends; Implement - Support the implementation of the ESR Framework in ING’s mainstream processes and systems, including the design, technical execution and training of the ESR Framework globally.

Who we are looking for?

A highly dedicated professional with 7-10 years of banking experience and ready to make a difference! 

Personal profile:

University degree
Knowledge of banking and credit approval processes is essential. Specific knowledge of Project Finance a/o Trade and Commodity Finance  will be an advantage
Knowledge of environmental and social internationally recognised standards e.g. Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards is essential.  
Fluent command of English is essential. Fluent command in Dutch or Chinese is will be an advantage
Excellent English writing skills. Ability to write clear and concise memos swiftly
Self-starter, effective problem solver, pragmatic
Ability to manage different views and impacts on stakeholders
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
