Role overview:
 
Unix Operations is a part of the Infrastructure Hosting Services (Switzerland) Organization. We maintain, operate and support almost all Linux RHEL and Sun Solaris Systems based in Switzerland. The team is responsible for all aspects of 2nd level support / System administration and is a key element to ensure availability and reliability of the Unix infrastructure.
 
This role will focus on Installation, Deployment and Operation (System Administration) of Sun Solaris / RedHat Linux infrastructure for core business units (IB, PB und AM):


L2 Support (Incident-, Problem-, Change-Management) of high available Solaris Linux-based server systems and integration of software components.

Operation of test-, integration and production-infrastructure for SUN Solaris and Red Hat Linux (RHEL) based applications.• Planning and execution of maintenance on UNIX/Linux systems, including deployment of new operating system releases and Layer 2 (Middleware) components.

Support for integration of new systems and products, including support for projects through all environments from test to production.

Installation, configuration and root cause analysis with storage management tools (VxVM, VxFS, LVM).

Quality assurance and acceptance tests for UNIX/Linux systems, standard builds and software components.

Root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable solutions

Support for Life Cycle projects.

Execute disaster recovery (DR) tests in cooperation with application support teams.

Create, revise and update user documentation.

On-call support (7x24h) for Unix Operations team.Additional Duties:

Support project managers for implementation of new application solutions, including technical support.

Quality management, operation level management.

 You Offer Essential:


Completed apprenticeship in Information Technology or adequate education.

At least 3 years of working experience in Unix/Linux systems administration (SUN Solaris and Red Hat Linux Systems) in large environments.

Attendance to 7x24h On-Call support.

Attendance to weekend work and work outside office hours.

Practical experience in Incident-, Problem and Change Management, including root cause analysis.

Analytical and strategic abilities

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively with senior management and other partners.

Fluent English language skills (spoken and written).
Desirable:


System administration of Veritas /RedHat Cluster Systems.

Knowledge and/or experience in Naming Services (NIS, LDAP, Active Directory), Systems Management Tools (e.g. BMC Patrol, ServiceNow), Virtualization (LDOM / VMWare).

Scripting (shell/perl).

ITIL V3.

German language skills are an advantage.
