All news channels in India are flooded with the same news and that was the sudden demise of Bollywood first female superstar, ‘Sridevi’. The Bollywood has lost its ‘Chandi’ while thousands of people across the country lost their favourite superstar. Her onscreen charisma and off screen loving nature truly inspired thousands of people.

The diva started working as an actress in Tamil movies right from the age of 4 and since then there was no looking back. In the year 1976, she was starred as a female lead opposite two big superstars, ‘Rajnikanth’ and ‘Kamal Haasan’ in the movie named ‘Moondru Mudichu’. Later, after the release of this movie she went on doing 20 films with ‘Kamal Haasan’.

Sridevi made her Bollywood debut as a lead actress with the movie ‘Solva Sawan’ in 1979. But, the movie that got her massive recognition and appreciation was ‘Himmatwala’ which was released in 1983. In Himmatwala she was paired against another huge superstar of Bollywood ‘Jeetendra’. After the success of this film, the pair was seen in sixteen movies together.

The on-screen appearance of Sridevi was so strong and appealing that she was nicknamed as ‘The Lady Bachchan of Bollywood’. Her versatile acting skills made her the first female Bollywood star to charge Rs.1 Crore for a film in a male-dominated industry. She was the Bollywood actress who had the opportunity to work with heroes from 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. In 1996, she got hitched with the veteran producer ‘Boney Kapoor’. Later, in 1997 after the release of blockbuster movie ‘Judaai’, she took a break from Bollywood.

Bollywood fashion is no else than a revolutionary act and Sridevi’s style statement on screen as well as off screen is a live example of the same. Her photo diary on the social media reflects how much she loved to travel. After taking a break of 15 years from cinema, she made an impactful comeback in 2012 with the movie ‘English Vinglish’. Her performance in the movie showcased that she is a queen and she will always be the queen of Bollywood.

Sridevi took her last breath on 24th of February 2018 In Dubai and this was a terrifying Bollywood story that left the nation numb. She was in Dubai to attend a family wedding which she enjoyed to the fullest. As stated by the forensic reports, the reason for her death was an accidental drowning. Her mortal remains were brought back to the country on 28th of February 2018 in Ambani’s private aircraft. A day after her mortal remains were kept at the Celebrations Sports Club in Mumbai for the industry friends, to pay last respects.

The final journey of the actress to place at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery. Thousands of fans were struggling on the roads of Mumbai to get the final glimpse of their favourite star. ‘Chandni’ left us, but her sensational performance will always lighten our heart and bring a smile on our face. Our heart goes to her family and fans.
