A Metaphor for Bees and Buzzes
Sara Jacobovici mentioned repeatedly that she is an integrator and process-oriented. I find myself more complexity-oriented. Are the integrator and process-oriented miscible with each other, or are they on opposing poles? Are they like honey and milk, or more like milk and fat or honey and fat? If they are like honey and milk do we assume their safe mixing?
I pondered on these questions searching for a metaphor that would help me answering these questions. My thinking led me to the froth (foamed, or steamed) coffee making. The process is the same, but the ingredients aren't. We make protein froth by creating beating the protein molecules in the milk to create a protein cage that encapsulates air within to which we add coffee. We make frothed coffee with the equipment, but end up with different quality foamed coffee.
We use the same equipment and procedures and yet we end up with varying qualities of coffee froth. We need to experiment (experimental processes) always and never assume we have the same product. Why don't we then get the same quality of desired coffee froth when we are using same milk, procedures and equipment? One major reason is that the milk from cows is never the same. The milk composition changes with what the cows feed on, the environment and host of other factors. Milk is an evolving product.
Making properly prepared coffee froth may sound as an easy process, but it isn't. Te complexity of the milk transfers to the process of making coffee froth and the process gets complex too.
Authors do the same they consume buzzes and so the milk (honey) will have different composition. The process of mixing acquired information may yield properly frothed buzzes or not. It is important that we don't assume; it is important to use the approach of process-experimenting. If what authors produce is milk-like, then knowing by experimenting is the only way to give the readers the product that appeals to them. There is no room for assumption. Processes use ingredients that may be evolving and procedure shall guarantee producing the desired quality product.
It is important to realize that complexity and process speak to each other. Complexity is not against applying procedures and processes; it is also adjusting the processes to make for the variation in the quality of starting materials.
Know your ingredients and act accordingly. Milk that is steamed at a lower, steady temperature will have a richer, sweeter flavor profile. If you overheat the milk, it will taste burned, because you’ve essentially denatured the proteins, preventing foaming and scalding the milk. So your readers are , you may lose the effect intended if you try to overheat your buzzes.
In the making of coffee froths it is important to keep the milk moving. No one likes a thick skin of milk crust on his or her café au lait. It is movement that liberates us so that we don't get stuck in life. We need to know when to keep moving and when to take a pause because the foam has formed and settled.
This is the beauty of hives on beBee. We authors feed differently depending on what hives we visit and digest information. Our milk-produce (buzzes) shall be good for making coffee only if we observe these differences and adjust the procedure of making the froth accordingly. It is always process-experimenting and the more complex the starting milk is, the more attention to adjustment we shall need. Moreover, making coffee froth is a gradual process as you need to adjust the process by changing the position and speed of beating the milk to produce quality coffee foam. There is no room for fast-going and only a step by step approach shall give us the desired end product.
Complexity and processes require there integration, rather than their separation. The more we understand complexity, the more we tie this complexity with adjustment of processes the more successful we shall be.
Writing buzzes is the same. Just by treating it as a coffee froth we may draw many writing lessons.

May be to see what quality of coffee your clients prefer. Does that give you any clue about them Preston 🐝 Vander Ven. I am serious and the questions that pops up is can we link what people drink with what they want? If not, why then the common phrase "he isn't my cup of coffee"? A topic that may be is worthy of further investigation.

I like comments that I just don't know what to respond to. This one of yours Sara Jacobovici falls under this category. I am thinking and thinking on your statement " I am thinking that the act or process of separating is necessary only when integration kicks in. If left on its own, separation becomes divisive and gets "allocated" out of the process". I am thinking now and I am waiting for an inspirational ideas to cloud my mind. This is a very thorough idea and I am thinking.

Love your comment CityVP 🐝 Manjit. I believe your thought process is an example of "diverging into the intricate complexity". As well I appreciate your added dimension into what I call the language of creative thinking, when you write, "Metaphor helps us ground complex thought and so I see metaphor as a way of converging to what we know in comparison."

Dear Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee's comment and ask her the question if what she had said in her last line of her comment could be considered a definition of "adaptation." Then I read in your reply to Deb's comment, your perspective of her comment incorporating the idea of adaptation. I just had to share this "process" that has taken place (and I am still not finished reading). I have to confess, I did have my coffee first before I started engaging.

Hi Deb 🐝 Helfrich, saying that I imagined that the direction for either can change depending on the interaction in the moment. Then I read your experience of the directions as being opposite in nature to that described in Manjit's comment. I also want to highlight your last line, "I dwell in complexity in order to devise a new process that suits a specific niche." I wonder if that can be one definition of "adaptation"?

Right on it Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee's line a few times as it, literally, "moved" me. This definitely makes sense, but my gut reaction is that the description, "With the complexity view one has to zoom outwards and in the process view one can zoom inwards"., reflects a snapshot of a moment in the dynamic interaction of us humans in the world. The reverse can occur as a result of another interaction. I don't imagine either to maintain one direction.

I hope that Dr. Vincenzo De Florio would read your line "The actual science outlined in this buzz diverges into turning the coffee cup into a fractal. In the fractal we can look for patterns that is self-similar but in the metaphor we look for meaning that a metaphor may unpack for us". Fractal coffee in which we zoom in and out on hour coffee and see what we haven't seen before.

Deb 🐝 Helfrich- Astonishing mind and no wonder you extracted a huge wisdom "Decide to step into the magnificent capacity of all life on Earth or stay submerged in our current world of non-organic structures". SO eloquent and I shall be surprised if you don't expand on this great idea.

Yes Deb, intelligently observed, I should reframe this as an hour glass where we with that cup of coffee are physically the meeting point in the middle between the vast cosmos and the vast quantum. Another way of expressing these infinities is the infinity loop. Our societal need for eliminating uncertainty leads us to converge to the known. You are not afraid of the unknown and that is a huge difference in outlook which a few possess but the many do not either want to contemplate or will get uncomfortable in contemplating. Converge and diverge at the level of the known is as narrow a parameter as operating in visible light, usually it is the unknown and the uncertain that society guards against - thus hypocritically celebrating a few innovators while resisting change when innovation becomes something that will change an aspect of their life. In the case of the buzz above I am diverging to history but not to future, but also converging to the processes that lead to different cups of coffee but diverging into the intricate complexity of that coffee. Metaphor helps us ground complex thought and so I see metaphor as a way of converging to what we know in comparison. The actual science outlined in this buzz diverges into turning the coffee cup into a fractal. In the fractal we can look for patterns that is self-similar but in the metaphor we look for meaning that a metaphor may unpack for us.

Thank you for voicing out your opinion so openly dear debasish majumder- I am using the science in making coffee foams to explain why processes and complexity are linked and not distant from each other. No matter what we shall never guarantee the quality of an evolving product lie milk. You buy it and what assurances you have it is the same milk quality that you bought yesterday? For this reason, our brains our ideas, our experiences are also evolving and so we need to adjust a known process to adapt with the complexity of the ingredient.

Thank you Deb 🐝 Helfrich for expressing your views so clearly. Complexity leads to self-organizing without order from outside. What we zoom in is the order this process leads to. The internal world of complexity is amazing and the more we zoom in the more we see the repeating fractals. But also, complex systems interact and adapt with their environment and this adaptation leads to the emerging self-organizing. As for your full cream coffee you are right. We need the full fat milk because it has the proteins that form upon stirring (movement) the structure that imprisons the gas bubbles. If we change the type of milk we have to adapt the process. No wonder- your comments are always full of stable foams because you know what to do.
