Luck comes to those who deserve it

Lucky you- who luck knocks on the door of some people and not others? Do lucky people have fragrance that attract the bees of luck to them? Or, are lucky people have hidden magnets attached to them that attract the magnets of luck? Why do we say Merry Xmas and not Lucky Xmas?

It amazes me how lucky storms strike some people and not others? Estimation very, but I would say that between 30%-50% of product ideas and research ideas came by sheer luck, or serendipity. From dyes to pharmaceuticals and microwave ovens to X-ray and even the butterfly effect were discovered by pure luck. The list of examples is exhaustive. Even many novel ideas came by luck to later be bestsellers.

I believe the magnets are placed in our ability to go beyond the normal and staying in our comfort zones. Lucky discoveries exist outside the boundaries of our comfort zones. They are found in first relaxed mind who love to feed their minds with new senses. The sensing coming from wonderment while walking in a forest or surfing the web to enjoy lovely scenery. It comes from feeding our senses to see the repeating patterns of trees and transform them in repeating patterns of products such as the tree-like structured solar collectors which capture sunlight as a tree does. We need our senses to be alive and our imagination to walk and venture in new lands.

This is the preparation step for preparing ourselves to be lucky. But imagination without action remains a dream. We need to act on observations and turn them into reality. Having an emerging opportunity is something; proving we deserve it is another. I believe in that lucky ideas are fair. They don’t distinguish between the rich and the poor. They emerge for those people who interact with what they do lovingly and with persistence.

Seeing the potential of an emerging opportunity requires hard-working and persistence. We may see the noise, but this noise is the opportunity. I believe that luck has its own long-tail distribution. It comes to those people who are rare in quality, but high in value. Their value is not based on monetary basis; far more it is based on the readiness to see the unfamiliar and catch it.

I am writing this buzz because of the opportunity that social networks provide us to meet our lucky moments. The idea of a book, the concept for a new business or whatever are surely signs of a hidden treasure of social networks.

I wonder how many ideas people got while surfing beBee. It shall be interesting to add a new performance indicator to beBee network. It is on how many inspirational ideas we got and how they ended up as a product or service. There is no hive on serendipity on beBee network. May be it is time to consider establishing one.

The short answer, Yes. The little bit longer answer is that He provides blessings that when seen from the outside looks like luck. I think we both are saying the same thing. Diligence, execution and goals that include a rising tide establishes a basis for luck/blessing. Even if its only a 1 percent chance. Without the above characteristics within leadership you establish a zero chance of blessing/luck. Great discussion as we look at the law of unintended consequences from positive/negative. The 1% could be the difference.

The word chance in your definition is where i believe spiritually and secularly we can influence. The story of the talents responds to our obligation to gain wisdom, invest wisely. Within the Will of God many people are at play. The luck is the secular word for blessings you were not considering, but God knew you needed.

The laws of probability would say that by buying 7 tickets you have more chance of the jackpot than by buying just one. Therefore the buyer of one could be seen as being luckier, since they have fewer chances to win. Whichever the odds of winning a lottery are very long how ever many you buy. You would in most cases need to buy thousands of tickets to have any real chance of scooping a National Lottery jackpot for certain#36

The original word in serendipity means process that eventually lead to a lucky idea on conclusion. But I tried to refrain from using it often because not many people might be familiar with it. Thank you dear Proma \ud83d\udc1d Nautiyal for voicing out your opinion. Studies show that at least 30% of discoveries came by luck. This means the remainders came because of hard work. Yes I agree and I may add even the lucky 305 were hard workers as well. So, I have full support for your comment.

I do believe that luck comes to those who deserve it. However, I do believe hardwork/smart-work gets us closer o being lucky. The term "lucky" is very much related to the stars and the cosmic energies, I believe. It is karma coming back to you in the form of a positive, successful, and fulfilling energy. I also, see a lot of seriously undeserving candidates riding the wave of luck because of nothing that they have ever done or shown promise of. The only answer to this unbelievable phenomenon seems some good karma that they had collected in the past which is now being paid back to them.

You do bring a hugely important point dear Tausif Mundrawala. If luck knocks on the doors of lazy people or people who lack Perseverance then luck has fallen on the wrong soil. These people will tend to be wasteful for exploiting their luck. X-ray by Roentgen only after he kept working hard. It was his luck that he noticed the projection of X-ray on a wall. Had he not be consistent and studious he would have wasted the opportunity. We build our senses by many ways. But the sense of appreciating a lucky moment will fall on deafening ears unless they are ready for the reward.

We had an election a few decades back and one of the "Tag Lines", "A rising tide lifts all boats". Leaders can certainly make their own boat rise through many resources. But luck comes from raising the tide. When all boats see their future with confidence because of the tide shift, they want the leader to be successful also. Maybe this explains serendipity also. Glad you had such a great opportunity. Hopefully we shall see the wisdom of the group in future posts, after digestion of course.

Without engagement towards an accepted purpose people shall scatter their efforts. This means sustainability is missing. But luck comes to those people with determination to achieve their purpose. Luck is a concept that we look to fairy tales and myth. But i believe luck has been shorted its true meaning. Luck is not chance, like we would experience in cards or other forms of gambling Luck always seems to be around those who lead with humility and integrity. We may see in the news the results of execution around a goal but behind that sustainable success we see a group of people who were supporting their leadership. Luck describes that space between execution and outcome where not only the leadership is executing but also the team is supporting with true engagement. Luck is that magic that happens when many people endeavor to support a goal. "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." The basis of luck. For me a post concerning prototyping a product and the value of engaging the eyes, by Graham\ud83d\udc1d Edwards was very inspirational and changed our luck. Although his post was concerning a product the discussion gave me the question, how can we prototype a service? Before luck we have issues, concerns strategic change, then ___hope, ___execution__^__Outcome. ^Luck is built here with the engagement of humans in your strategy. I know of many stories that shows luck vomes to those who deserve them. A Nobel Prize Laureate in chemistry tried for three years to prepare for a compound. He failed. One day he lost hope and stirred the reaction vessel angrily with a thermometer. The latter broke and released its content of mercury. That mercury proved to be the catalyst and the chemist got his compound. He never planned for using mercury as a catalyst. If we dob't call this luck then what? May be my English vicabulary is so limited to make a suggestion.

You may be aware that in some sports requiring qualification for the final stages, some competitors who did not make the final, having just missed out, subsequently make the final because someone drops out. My starting point is always people who have transformed unlucky moments into luck. This is an extraordinary feature of lucky people. It is not that they were born lucky but it is the transformation ability in "lucky people" that no matter if they fall into a bucket of shit, they still come out of it smelling like roses. Then there is the chronic unfortunate. They may have luck within their reach, but the chronic unfortunate has an uncanny ability to turn gold into ashes. We all know the story of King Midas who had the misfortune of turning everything he touched into gold, but the chronic unfortunate goes one better, they turn everything they touch into a big ball of personal life mess. As a society we do not call chronic unfortunates as losers but we hold a certain affection for them, especially since it provides relief from a state of mind that is stuck on perfection. Yet we hear the idea of "easy come, easy go" and talk of "third generation curse" and this is the real loser, because a loser has to have something to lose. very interesting thoughts. There are then two types of luck. One that is similar to lottery. This is random luck. But there is also luck that is earned by working hard on a process and then a luck breakthrough unfolds. This is hard-earned luck. In the first case it is easy come- easy go as you described in your example. But lasting emerging luck may have large impact and for condiderable periods. This is not only for the lucky person only, but also for human sociieties such as in the caseof penicillin.

I was thinking of those " lucky " people who win vast sums of money on National Lotteries, and proceed to fritter it away on, well you know the scenario. They consider it luck we who don't win say there's no luck/skill involved and buy more tickets. There is a saying you make your own luck, perhaps good people have a different perspective as to what constitutes luck to bad people. Though we all good or bad say "we were lucky to have got away with it, which brings us back to whether the "escaped" was deserved or not.#4

i wonder whether unlucky may equally attracts each others Ali \ud83d\udc1d Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee! my question if we distinguish lucky and unlucky in such fashion, are we not embedding hostility in our available social fabric? will we accept tryst with destiny? will we allow destiny to overbear on us? i wonder how to lucky guy may reorient themselves? will they repudiate their luck and start with a fresh note regarding their life? however, luck itself an intriguing episode and plays an important role to ones life! we do believe in luck, not considering the circumstances which practically plays the key role to usher our luck. i guess, it is the external conditions, triggering us to act accordingly, bringing bonanza for us.

The question is dear Debasish Majumder is that many times we run into a discovery that we didn't plan for. Penicillin, X-ray and so many other products were not planned for. I wrote a novel in Arabic titled "Breath Prints" because of a simple observation. What do you call this my friend? I like your question on magnets. Two people might have the orientation of their luck magnets with the negatively charged end near each other or far from each other. May be they consider re-orienting themselves so as to attract each other.

luck itself is an abstract affair and in case of monetary gains being termed as lucky, then sometimes not having monetary gains may lead one to create something which might yield rich dividends later. besides, i wonder, if lucky people are having magnets hidden on them then, the same poles repels. so, in terms of interacting with lucky people what they may yield! i guess, it is not sensible to address one as lucky, then others are being treated as unlucky and an enmity will be engender out of such perception. however, intriguing insight sir Ali \ud83d\udc1d Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee! enjoyed read and shared. thank you for the buzz.

#2 The key word is "deserve". Do good people deserve good luck, while bad people don't? I think the answer is we earn our good and bad luck, it rarely just arrives. We just prepare the way by what we do.

This is an excellent comment and a lively question John Rylance. Sometimes luck strikes the doors of very lazy people. But because they have peace in mind and open senses they are prepared to see an opportunity. If they are too lazy to actualize it they lose the opportunity. So, even if they are luck to find the golden egg they fail to get the chicken out of it.
