Pathogenic Thinking

Pathogenic Thinking

3f6dccc7.jpg

Life is a full of conflicts. We experience conflict between new ideas and old ones, between the familiar and long-standing beliefs and the emerging new ones. We have conflict of interests. We have conflict between new strategies and old ones and self-conflict between two ideas. A great story builds itself on an important conflict like fighting for a country and staying close to a new love.

Our bodies live in constant conflicts between their immunity systems (the protagonist) and the antagonist pathogens. We have a built-in conflict. Understanding the mechanism of how the immunity system works against pathogens may help us in understanding and finding new ways to write stories and including our story on how to fight off the pathogens of making false assumptions and holding to irrelevant beliefs. The worst enemies are those that reside within us and topping the balance in favor of our immunity system is a noble goal to understand.

How do our bodies react to the invasion of pathogens such as viruses? Normally, our bodies release proteins that would inhibit the virus from replication. The immune systems in our bodies consisting of both structures and processes shall try to halt the replication of a virus because this system is capable of telling harmful viruses and that they are not part of the healthy tissues in our bodies. Our defense system starts with innate defense. Defenses that we accumulated and are ready for fighting contaminant pathogenic ideas as our bodies fight pathogens.

Sometimes innate immunity fails and our bodies start using other mechanism to fight pathogens such as humoral immunity by releasing antibodies or /and cellular immune response by what is known as T -cell activation.

Quick responses to pathogens that wood decrease our WPD Factor (Wonderment, Passion and Drive) start by using protective methods such as filtering pathogens and burning them in the acidity of our stomachs. This first of defense may succeed and if not second line defenses work. White blood cells travel through the body to kill the pathogens whereas other organs are busy getting the body rid of the killed pathogens. We may kill the pathogenic ideas, but if we fail to get rid of them they shall intoxicate our bodies.

There is a third line of defense- the molecules which use a lock and key approach to deactivate the pathogens by interfering in their cellular composition.

There is a fourth line of defense in the body- the organs. I find the way our bodies defend themselves against predators is extensible to how we may protect ourselves from pathogenic ideas. We need a hero who has lots of defensive lines. We may resort to our innate abilities, but these may not be enough to combat certain pathogenic ideas. We need a hero to adapt the immunity system through different shaped ideas to hook to the pathogenic cells and deprive them from replicating. We need different thinking on where to place the organs in the body of the story to quicken our reactions to pathogens.
I am not a medical doctor. But I dare say the conflict between pathogens and immunity systems in our bodies would provide us with a new way to structure our stories. Like our bodies adapt and produce adaptive immunity to conquer pathogens, so we may need to adapt the structure of our stories. Creative thinking shall lead to reshaping our approaches and bring creative ideas to combat pathogens.
Our bodies have great stories for us to reveal and adapt to combat intangible pathogens of negative thinking and to chart art novel approaches.
The story of how our bodies build immunity to new pathogens may well serve as a paradigm in building our immunity to pathogenic thinking.

This pathogen for this buzz started from a great buzz by Sara Jacobovici on The Business of Defense. What I am suggesting here that the four lines of defense in the human body may serve as a great metaphor to building our defenses against pathogenic thinking. In no way I claim this is a comprehensive buzz; to the contrary it is far from. My aim is to get ideas from medical doctors, thinkers and experts on how to best do that.

There certainly are a lot of wars going on inside us, Ali. You'd think that would be reason enough not to start wars outside of us.

#58 First, let me say how wonderful it is to see you on beBee Joanne Swecker. My gut/heart reaction to your comment Joanne is that you are introducing the concept of thoughts as an entity in and of themselves that can move in and out of our thought consciousness to be experienced but not owned. This inspires me to revisit Jung's collective unconscious and see how your insight/perspective fits in.

Not less even by one inch what your comments inspire me with dear Joanne Swecker. Even though you meant thought and not though in the following extract of your comment, but it got my mind brewing We can experience a clear observation, in this clarity we are able to allow thoughts to come and go, we recognize that though is an appearance in and of itself."

I wish both Lisa Gallagher would meet in person for an extended time. I wonder what effect the humor of Praveen would be on Lisa. I have here to register my deep appreciation of the openness with which Lisa exposed her struggle with anxiety. AT least, we now from her what works and what doesn't.

Aha Dear Randy, there's an immense wisdom in what you have said, "I was lost in the unfamiliar verbiage, though I fought for understanding. There's a lot to be said about humor Praveen Raj Gullepalli. It's better than any drug someone could give me. Although I've never taken drugs per-se. One medication only for years (the same one). Just like reading "Buck-u-upper," hahaha, good one. See, Laughter?!! I can't read or interact on blogs that are negative or mean in nature anymore as well. I find those to be energy suckers. I am all for discussing controversial topics but not when another is attacked because their view may differ. There are kind ways to disagree and keep things respectful without hurting another's feelings. I'd rather listen to myself singing than get involved on blogs that have in-fighting going on.. and I can't tell you how painful it is to hear myself sing LOL!

Pt 2 -When I feel it, it's as if it sucks the life out of me and it brings me down. Not a word has to be said for me to pick up on it. Ali Anani, I wish there was an answer to so many issues our bodies and minds face. I agree, repeating something over and over isn't the solution if it's not working. I must say with all honesty, as honest as I've been by sharing my own life story (well just a piece or two of it) I find there are those close to me who say they understand but I also see they are very inconvenienced with my illness if it affects something we are to do together as one example, which only adds more anxiety to me along with guilt. Ok, I hated to make this about myself but I was tagged so went with it :)) I have to say when people are light hearted, sincere and do show their humorous side, it really is good medicine for people like me. Might be on to something!

Praveen Raj Gullepalli, you brought up a great point, my anxiety which when goes on for any length of time turns to depression as well... it's a double whammy- but it's nothing I have control over. There are so many theories as to why people have this illness, some people feel we can will it away. If it was that easy, mine would have been gone a long time ago. I'm a fairly positive person and I usually put others first. Now, that could have played a role over the years in the making of Lisa... ;-0 I also feel and pick up on negative energy very easy. Yes, our bodies get the wrong signal sometimes and start fighting healthy molecules Deb Helfrich. We don't get anything for nothing. It is unfortunate that sometimes what we pay is too much such as severe side effects. I believe our attitudes have a big role to play. We may go with the flow and accept failure, but in a positive way. Adding drops of sweeteners like passing good news or a joke will surely help. Last week Lebanon lost one an icon singer and musician (Melhem Barakat). In his funeral people were playing his lovely songs. We may go on crying or remembering the singing moments in our lives and make things less devastating.

Acute anxiety has a pathogenic effect and when I read the posts of Lisa Gallagher on the challenges of severe anxiety, then the most immediate focus of immunity is see that sometimes pathogens like acute anxiety can reside with a human being for a really long time, whereas more of than not the immune system works fast and decisively on pathogens, a pathogen like anxiety is something that is a slow heal. We often think of pathogens as the darkest forces of the human nature, but good people are battling pathogens such as crippling anxiety attacks.

Praveen, your response cut right through to the core of this idea, bringing enlightenment. I was lost in the unfamiliar verbiage, though I fought for understanding. "In the noise of behaviors there will be one that has lost hope of their voice of discontent being heard. I will fight the 99 to find the 1" Your nobility is beyond questioning Harvey Lloyd. Who could dispute with it? SUrely, not me. Do we need then a two-pronged approach: to dig out the 1% while keeping our ability to do this by fighting pathogens simultaneously? The human body tries to prevent pathogens, but when they succeed our bodies try to curb the replication of pathogens with the simultaneity of destroying them. Is a similar strategy worthy in your opinion?

Harvey Lloyd

"The question is why do we have some pathogenic behaviors?" Each day i have to face this question Ali Anani. Our school provides educational services to students that have been labeled Emotionally Disturbed (ED) and many other designations. The short answer to the question is physical disability or psychological disorder. Although a noble cause claimed by many, the nobility wears thin when in the classroom everyday experiencing the behaviors. After 15+ years of this i have come to one conclusion. The fight for their success in society is the true noble goal, not the outcome. But if we can assist only one out of hundred is the fight worthy? How we answer the question will decide mankind's fate. In the noise of behaviors there will be one that has lost hope of their voice of discontent being heard. I will fight the 99 to find the 1. Social media does not necessarily offer up these types of disabilities but non the less we must have the same vigilance in assisting those who are seeking growth. Their voice may be hidden from our ears in the negative within the sea of negativity. Should we not test the waters for their voice and assist in understanding. I have been lost before and someone was able to look past my behavior and reach out and show me a new path. They too were exposed to 99 negative voices and reached blindly to find me. I say all of this to make a single point. Although a strong defense is required and vigilance needed, we cant make the screen so tight that we exclude the one. Man is destine to navigate through the negative in order to serve. To screen out all that is defined as negative by the individual, will eventually isolate us all.

I appreciate you bringing in the social body into this discussion Harvey Lloyd. From my perspective what impact one system; individual or social, has on the other will be determine or will be formed through communication; every system, every organism communicates within its like life forms and across systems (https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2012/10/how-your-cells-talk-to-each-other/). The quality of that communication will directly impact on the quality of the immune system; the individual's and the social body.

"Pathogenic thinking" i believe needs defining. Please Ali Anani correct me if i need correcting here. This form of thinking would need to be reviewed from the perspective of the goal and outcome. So the definition would need to be in the area of; Thinking that the main intent is to destroy, cobble or subvert and idea or belief. Without considering the broader facts outside of ones knowledge. If we can live with this definition then i would propose that our immune system would not seek to have the same definition. But rather a definition of enlightenment. Through the immune system of social interaction we could inject understanding, discourse and secure our belief that life is a shared journey. In each of us we have "pathogenic thinking", it is in our nature. I have my own internal processes (Immune System) that most of the time helps me get past my own debilitating thinking. But on occasion my immune system is not enough, i require the help of other's immune system to assist in understanding my rabbit hole. Social media has quickly become a place where a person who has found themselves in a rabbit hole is fearful of displaying the dilemma. Many who have traversed these same rabbit holes themselves can quickly point out the weaknesses, and in most occasions will do so with vengeance. If we are to have this social "immune system" it should offer guidance for those on their journey. The system should also recognize that we all are on a journey towards an end goal, relevance. We are all stationed along this path by the label of time. Those ahead should recognize they are the immune system of those who require direction to continue their journey.

Ali Anani In fact, your writings leave one and all in wonderment...the amount of ideas you pluck, from here and there, and so well you fuse them with ligaments of commentaries and exegesis. Oftentimes, I wish I could pen down something, like synopsis type, on your sequential stories, but I find too hard because I remember something, I miss something. :)
