The Emerging Rethinking

The Emerging Rethinking

Mahatma Gandhi

A comment may send us into new and/or re-energizing paths. A comment by the great thinker David Navarro López on my buzz on "Living Stories on the Observing Effect" did just that to me. In his second comment David wrote " Thank you for your nice words, but I am just a normal person who tries to know more, learning from the bests.
In my understanding, no doubt the feelings is "the engine". But beliefs is "the gasoline" you feed it with. If one works on discarding negative perceptions/knowledge, will have a much "better gasoline".

Let us take as example your "reaction" to my post.
I could take your words in negative aim. You are a very cultivated man, full of success, a living example of a human being. So these words coming from you, knowing that I come from a much more humble condition, could seem to me sarcastic.
Thus I could think about your question "do feelings precede to beliefs...?" is trying to make laugh about me. Or with your words "your perspective… is different from all others.." I could take it as if I am not in the line/should not be commenting here. But my perception ever since I first read your lines, is that you are a great human being, I acknowledged it, and i firmly belief that even if you heavily criticize me, my feelings would be of gratefulness, as a normal reaction of my feelings due to the perception I have from you.
Perception-knowledge-beliefs-feelings-action-interaction-perception......I like the name of Navarro loop.

I drew The Navarro Loop because when we draw new observations may appear.

This loop, to which I added the dotted lines to make triads for reasons to be explained later, reminded me of the Mahatma Gandhi Loop, which I drew as below.

Gandi starting point is beliefs that leads to thoughts and words reflecting inner feelings to actions and till reaching destiny and then a new loop starts. In the Navarro Loop notice the triad Beliefs-Feelings-Actions. In the Gandi Loop it is thoughts (coming from beliefs), words (reflecting feelings) and actions.

I could compromise the two loops as follows:

b9b5c1ac.jpg

The starting point for the Navarro Loop is perceptions, whereas it is beliefs in the Gandi Loop. David Navarro finds support in this quote "So, next time you are interacting with your environment, think about your actions being guided by your perceptions referenced against your goal states, which in turn activate emotions that energize and organize your actions".

Our beliefs may emerge in many triads. I show two of them in the first image "The Navarro Loop". Wikipedia defines belief as "Belief is the state of mind in which a person thinks something to be the case, with or without there being empirical evidence to prove that something is the case with factual certainty". The same citation shows what attributes influence our beliefs- and there are plenty of them. Perception is one among many.

Human behavior is so complex and with so many possible interactions some self-organizing behaviors may emerge. It is far more complex to be linear. We have loops, but the interactions of triads and their components make the simple complex.

@Jean L. Serio, CPC, CMC I agree completely to your words "I do believe there are times in our lives when perception is all we have to guide us" Our perceptions, our knowledge and our beliefs compels us to take sometimes some quite "illogical" immediate action, as if we had another "alter ego" which is thinking and taking decisions for us. Some call that "trigger" as intuition, which sometimes appears consciously, but most of the times, not. Maybe you will find interesting something I wrote some time ago according to this. Hope you like it. http://www.slideshare.net/bicefablog/why-making-choices-based-on-intuition-can-be-successful-47455282

Yes we are dear David Navarro López he is a very bright man. We had extensive discussions before and even shared some "secrets" of our private lives. I am so happy to welcome him on beBee. He wrote to me today asking me to change the Navarro Loop to Anani-Navarro Loop. I declined because he owns it. However; this Loop merits two more buzzes, the least to say.

Harvey Lloyd- there is a gem in your comment, which is " an expression of perception based on past understanding". That is a significant idea and I am going to think deeply about it even though you offer an explanation "This to say that feelings should always be tested through the cycle, especially if the feelings would cause us to act without forethought of outcomes". Very grateful to this sharp comment

These types of discussions bring to light whether we have free will or not. In other forums we discuss our abilities to choose our response to various environments/situations where others discuss the rigid cycle of performance of responses. I for one fall in the camp that our responses are controllable when we choose. The cycles shown in the article show me each cycle has potential for growth. For this to occur though, I have to be willing to listen and review my current beliefs and perceptions. The initial experience is most likely met with feelings rather than the other parts of the cycle. These feelings should be observed for what they are, an expression of perception based on past understanding. Maybe, I do mean maybe, a new understanding is needed. This to say that feelings should always be tested through the cycle, especially if the feelings would cause us to act without forethought of outcomes. Thank you for the post @Ali Anani

Dear @debasish majumder, please would you be so kind what do you exactly mean with "reflection"? As for the basis of your words, I believe we do not differ that much. We have external influences and internal influences, positive and negative ones, and they interact in a never ending loop. In a world on which negativity seems to be the "trending topic", it is up to us to choose the external influences we feed our internal self, while working internally getting rid of negativity, which, at last will be destructive. It is a simple question of survival.

I see that David David Navarro López is I am happy that we may be differing. Frienship is to differ (diverge) and converge later so that we may all grow.

@Deb Helfrich You have expressed very sharply a phenomenon it happened to me since I first started to read/comment the texts full of wisdom of @Ali Anani. I had many undefined thoughts, in embryonic status, which happened to be “born” thanks to the wisdom of @Ali Anani, in your words, “by getting an outside perspective, by participating in these sorts of virtual tête-à-tête which become a record of how others think, analyze, and process numerous snippets of text” The king Solomon, one of the most wisdom humans according to the Bible, wrote: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Pro.27:17 And this is precisely what the “Navarro Loop” is all about: to manage our perceptions in order to only take advantage of the ones which will enhance us. In other words, if we do not keep negative perceptions out of our brain, it will ultimately affect us worse than the perception itself, as we would add our own failures, fears and “bad habits”.

@Mohammed Sultan You are pointing with wisdom one of the inceptions of today’s failure on our relationships. Unfortunately for most of us, the education we received is based on “Austrian way of teaching”, which is never been intended to convert people in 'self-thinking' individuals. Since its inception, the Austrian based educational system we have, is intended to make a uniform mass of workers, soldiers, and so on, whose only purpose is the will of the one who holds the power. So our current generation is still trying to redefine itself, in a Emerging Rethinking, and in the mean time, as a consequence of having been “enslaved” on a educational system that framed us curtailing our creativity and personality, we have given to our heirs, the next generation, no hints about discipline, rights and duties, out of their own capricious will. As a result, we can see in our day-to-day life children with an enormous “Kaiser complex”, making us, the parents/grandparents, who in our time had no right to express ourselves, again slaves of dwarf dictators who are absolutely not concerned about interactions with other humans. I am absolutely in agreement with you, that we need, in your words “to change your perception, and to change your perception you have to change your behaviour and the way your mind works.”

Dear debasish majumder, for now I wish to say the following. A static or motionless object would prefer to stay as it is. In electivity the potential difference is need to cause motion. A car shall not move without burning fuel. What would move humans. A burning desire? I prefer green metaphors, but sometimes other metaphors help. I do appreciate your comment and shall comment again after David response.

Your comment dear Margaret Aranda, MD, PhD prompts me to say if hatred 9or whatever the opposite of love is) divergence then love is the convergence. Divergent efforts, ideas, possibilities, feelings and whatever if they would only converge to something beautiful as your lovely comments shows. I can't thank you enough for igniting my mind.

Absolutely moving comment dear Mohammed Sultan. You are really "Sultan Zamanak) with this deep comment. "Our thoughts are reflections of our feelings.Juggling these words in random patterns would have made them even worse and might have hurt us.Like juggling balls in the air,we should create a separate path for everyone rather than letting them collide in the air and fall in rando". Sheer brilliance and the idea of creating any loops is so attractive and appealing. I am wonderfully surprised with the quality of this comment. It is a buzz on its own.

Great comment and wisdom is embedded in this lovely response dear David David Navarro López (BTW_ I always knew you as David Navarro and Lopez is new to me". I love this segment of your comment "Therefore, I turn a deaf ear to perceptions coming from a person who I certainly know-belief is a negative or even toxic to me. In the other hand, I treasure perceptions which turn my knowledge/beliefs/actions into a better status". Yes, and that is exactly why you are so close to my mind and heart my friend. Yes, the Navarro Loop is worthy and writing a buzz on it reflects my genuine interest in it. Gandi quote reads as follows ( I drew the loop): Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.

Ali Anani Thank you for digging so nicely into the Navarro Loop, while I feel embarrassment to see you put my ideas close to Gandhi's. In the other hand, I was completely unaware about the Gandhi loop. Shame on me. And yet, I am happy to agree with your words "Human behavior is so complex and with so many possible interactions some self-organizing behaviors may emerge. It is far more complex to be linear. We have loops, but the interactions of triads and their components make the simple complex." Seen from my technician and simplistic point of view, to understand how the interactions between all the components of the human nature works is something out of my possibilities. But somehow everyone needs a formula that fits, when self improvement is the goal. In my empiric way of searching my own truth about self improvement, I realized in my case that few of the mentioned components can be controlled and at the same time, so decisive as controlling/filtering the perceptions I got everyday. Of course, the direct interaction between perception-knowledge-beliefs works in both directions in this case. Therefore, I turn a deaf ear to perceptions coming from a person who I certainly know-belief is a negative or even toxic to me. In the other hand, I treasure perceptions which turn my knowledge/beliefs/actions into a better status. A great example of it is your master piece published in Slideshare http://www.slideshare.net/hudali15/clean-your-mind-cache which has been for many time my "nightstand book", and from i developed this kind of thinking. God Bless you for the Great man you are.

You captured my mind with your comment Sara Jacobovici. You wrote "I could sit and play around with the different pieces and rearrange them into various patterns" and this was exactly what I was doing during the writing of this buzz. I felt my mind was like a lego trying to fix parts together. Yes, experience and meaning are worthy of adding.

Brilliantly thought provoking Ali Anani. Your concluding statement is a perfect summary of your Buzz, "We have loops, but the interactions of triads and their components make the simple complex." I could sit and play around with the different pieces and rearrange them into various patterns, which would all be valid because of the interactions of the individual components. I would throw into the pot experiences and meanings. Thank you for stirring things up for me.
