Top Travel Destinations for 2020

Top Travel Destinations for 2020

2020 is shaping up to be a big year for travel! You’ll want to brush up on the top destinations now so that you have plenty of time to plan your perfect getaway. Here are three of the must-see vacation spots for 2020, each offering a little something for everyone!

For Environmentalists: Islas Secas in Panama Panama

As it becomes more eco-friendly, Panama is expected to be a hot vacation spot for the year. This transition to an environmentally-friendly destination is being brought about by Islas Secas, a long-awaited retreat slated to open in December 2019. Travelers will be able to enjoy 14 islands in the Pacific Gulf of Chiriqui, 33 miles from the mainland. Those who stay at Islas Secas can stay in one of four casita sites where a grand total of 18 visitors at a time can sleep. Each of the suites provides ultimate privacy for those staying there. With thatched roofs and a deck with a plunge pool, they are just as relaxing as they are tranquil.

The resort’s energy is completely solar-generated, making it the preferred choice of environmentally-conscious tourists. All of the food waste accumulated is composted or recycled. Wastewater will now only be used again for irrigation, making the resort as environmentally friendly as possible.

For Historians: Plymouth, UK

Located in southwest England, Plymouth is a beautiful coastal city. The city has experienced a renaissance of sorts, with waterfront projects and an influx of new restaurants bringing in all sorts of beauty into the cultural melting-pot. Despite these new developments, Its old port remains the same, and this is where tourists can go to explore the city’s cafes and art galleries, as well as the Elizabethan Gardens.

As Plymouth prepares to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower setting sail—yes, the same one that went to America’s Plymouth—year-round events are planned for the city. Local artists, thespians, and musicians will take to the city’s streets and stages, celebrating Plymouth’s rich history as well as its push towards the future. With the opening of the new cultural attraction called The Box, a collection of heritage artifacts will be on display as well.

For Foodies: Portland, Maine, US

Several lists put Portland, Maine, near the top, and it’s not hard to see why. With the city’s “food renaissance” in full-swing, foodies and cultural connoisseurs alike will thrive in this New England city. The waterfront promises aquatic adventures and scrumptious seafood, but the real fun lies inland. Portland is a cultural epicenter, boasting boutiques, galleries, museums, and (of course) food.

One of the must-see Portland activities is the Casco Bay Line’s Mailboat Run, which brings passengers along on a mail-delivery journey past islands such as Little Diamond, Great Diamond, and Chebeague. This adventure is a fun way to spend the day—provided you aren’t stuffed with shellfish!
