Best Family Holiday Destinations 2018

Best Family Holiday Destinations 2018Family holidays make up some of our earliest and most cherished childhood memories. With the excitement and anticipation, as well as the long afternoons spent with parents and siblings swimming or building sandcastles on the beach, family holidays are amongst the best moments of your childhood. But where is the best place for your family to build their memories?

Crete, Greece

Perhaps the most charismatic of the Greek islands, Crete is a great island holiday perfect for the whole family. Embrace the traditional Greek food and culture and, as Greece’s largest island, there’s a huge range of terrain to explore. One day you could enjoy a walk along a harbour off the beautiful Crete coastline, and the next exploring the mountain villages with the family. There really is an abundance of things to do here that the whole family will enjoy.

Verbier, Swiss Alps

Book to stay at a chalet and enjoy a laid-back holiday, or unleash your energetic side and take part in one of the many activities in the area. The Swiss Alps is the perfect place to entertain children (and adults!) of all ages. With archery, horse riding and indoor climbing on offer, the words “I’m bored” are unlikely to be said. Whilst Verbier is one of the best winter resorts, it also has an average of 300 days of sunshine every year, so it is a wonderful summer destination, too!

Algarve, Portugal

The Algarve is one of the most incredible family holiday destinations and is becoming more and more affordable each year. If you’re looking for a place to spend a few days with your loved ones or are after a more family-focused week in the sun, then the Algarve’s coast is the perfect location. There are plenty of Algarve villa rentals on offer that are close to beaches and tourist areas, so you’re sure to find the holiday home that’s right for your family's needs. From Sagres to Lagos and Faro, there are plenty of breathtaking beach spots for adults and young ones to enjoy.

Devon, England

For a summer staycation, then head to Devon. East Devon, in particular, is one of the remaining few places in England where you can enjoy ‘countryside by the sea’, and it offers a great mix of coves, endless greenery and idyllic beaches. Children can enjoy the classic English seaside experience, whilst parents can enjoy the peacefulness and seclusion on offer. If you want to be close to pubs and local amenities, then stay in the charming town of Knightsbridge or to be close to the beautiful coastline then the lush setting of Hoiton is for you.
