Fall Travel Destinations
It’s that time of the year again! We’ve entered the month of October, the weather is getting cooler, the leaves are starting to change colors and fall season is kicking back up again. Fall season can also be an ideal time to travel. There are many places here in the US as well abroad that are perfect destinations for the fall. Take a look at some of the best fall travel destinations:
Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake City makes for an ideal travel spot as the autumn months bring with it lower prices and fewer crowds which allow you to the beautiful fall foliage shown as you drive or hike along the Big or Little Cottonwood Canyons. Salt Lake City is also home to the Utah State Fair which happens in September, and that includes the rodeo and the Western Music Festival. You can also enjoy a lederhosen-filled Oktoberfest at Snowbird, and if you’re lucky and there’s enough snow, you might be able to hit the ski slopes by Halloween.
The autumn months sure do seem to be a sweet spot regarding weather for the Windy City as the cool air tends to get people up and going. Kicking things off in September is the World Music Festival, which is followed by the Riot Fest, and finally the Hyde Park Jazz Festival. Recently, Chicago has added a new addition to their festival in the Great Chicago Fire Festival. This new event features flaming sculptures, acrobatics as well as music which is to honor the revival of the city after the epic fire that occurred in 1871.
Prague, Czech Republic
Similar to Salt Lake City, Prague tends to be an ideal fall destination as there are fewer visitors at the time which gives more opportunity to view the beautiful sights it has to offer. With a nice romantic feel given by the season’s glow along with the food, it’s the perfect combination. If you decide to take a walk right before dusk on Castle Hill, you will be able to get an amazing panoramic view Prague’s red rooftops and thousand spires. You can also get better views of some of its iconic attractions like Prague Castle. You will notice that the city really does come to life with the trees that transform with flashes of copper, crimson and luminous orange.
Typically known as one of the more picturesque travel destinations at any point of the year, Lugano’s cooling weather gives way for a more pleasurable experience as you enjoy the magnificent fall colors. Situated in the southern region of Switzerland, this beautiful city borders Italy and is on the shores of Lake Lugano, under the shadows of amazing mountains south of the Alps. During this fall season, you can attend the Autumn Festival which includes folkloric music along with celebrations of grapes and fine wines during the first weekend of October.
