How to Develop Your First Android App With Android Studio

In this article, we are going to describe you the basics of how to create an Android app using Android Studio Development environment. As we know Demand for Android devices is continuously increasing in the market so Android app development is common for those devices.

One of the free tools for Android App Development is Android Studio which uses Java programming language.


  • Now I am going to explain step by step process to make your first Android app.

  • Download and Install Android studio

  • Download Android Studio

  • Now Install Android Studio on your pc.


Open a New Project-


  • Now open android studio on your Pc.

  • From start, menu press Start a new Android Studio project...

  • On the next window give a name to your new project, fill domain name and designation address.

  • In the next window select "Phone and Tablet" box only. Make sure the minimum SDK is below your phone's operating system level.

  • Go to the next screen select "Blank Activity."

  • Now click next, leave all the field same as they are. Click finish.

  • Edit the Welcome Message in the Main Activity-

  • Navigate to the activity_main.xml tab. Make sure that the Design tab is open.

  • Now you need to put "Hello, world! To the center of the screen.

  • open the "values folder" from the left side window, double-click on the "strings.xml"

  • Now find hello world! line and you can replace hello world! from any desired text.

  • Add a Button to the Main Activity-

  • Navigate to the Design tab of the activity_main.xml

  • Click and drag button underneath your welcome message from widget heading.

  • From the properties menu find text and change "text button" to "next page"


Create a Second Activity-

  • Now click right on "app" press New click Activity > Blank Activity. Name it as "Second Activity"

  • Now Drag the text box to the center of the phone display.

  • Go to the Properties menu on the right, find "id" field and set it to "text2".

  • Open strings.xml, Add a new line under "Hello world! Welcome to my app!" that reads "Welcome to the second page!".



Navigate to activity_second.xml. Select the text box, In the Properties panel, set the "text" field to "@string/second_page"

Now select the MainActivity.java tab

Add these code at the end of the onCreate method:

Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button);

button.setOnClickListener(new View.onClickListener() {

@Override

public void onClick(View v) {

startActivity(new Intent(this,SecondActivity.class));

}

});

5 Add this at the end of the import statements:

import android.content.Intent;

import android.view.View;

import android.widget.TextView;

Test the Application-


From Android Studio window Click the green play symbol, on the Choose Device" dialog select the "Launch emulator" When emulator opens, the app will automatically launch the app upon the virtual phone being unlocked.


Now you have completed your first android app with very basic function. On your first page have a page greeting the user and a next button when you click on that button you will land on the second screen. Basically, this was a basic programming tutorial for beginners you can lot of things in android app studio. And every android apps can make from this process.
