Songs that don't get much airplay....But Should!!

Songs that don't get much airplay....But Should!!

After my last music buzz which was about song covers it seemed I inspired Aaron Skogen to do exactly the same....well done Aaron!! anyway after exchanging comments with Aaron I mentioned that there were songs that we didn't seem to hear too much of on the airwaves, and I said it may be a good idea to do a buzz about this...and so that comment has brought us here!! although I have to say that this may become regular as there are many many songs out and about that we don't seem to hear much of on the airwaves these days.

If we haven't got them in our music libraries then we have to go in search of them either online or at music shops, this would be real music shops and not places like WH Smith or HMV.

So I have put together 5 videos courtesy of Youtube of songs that we don't seem to hear much of, and like I said there are many, these are the first batch of which I have also tried to find live performances as these are often different to the studio recording....not sure how these will go down so lets start!!

My first video should need no introduction really....but just incase this is the phenomenal Joan Baez singing 'Diamonds and Rust' and its a live performance from 1975....

I'm juggling these up a little as I have only managed to find 3 live performances, we leave Joan in 1975 and buzz along to 1993 with a song from Irish rock band The Cranberries, although this has over 63million hits on Youtube we don't seem to hear too much of it on the airwaves, here they are singing 'Dreams'....

Right back to the seventies again (it's like time travel!) this time with the American rock band Kansas who produced 8 gold albums, 3 multi platinum, and one live platinum album, although this song is a multi million selling single it is quite sad that we hear very little of it on the airwaves, so here are Kansas performing 'Dust in the Wind' this is another live performance....

I'm going for a change of tone with this next song, believe it or not this song has over 118 million hits on Youtube but do we hear it on the airwaves..only if you're lucky, this is lovely song sung by Christina Aguilera and is called 'Hurt'....

For the last song were buzzing right back to the nineties to a song that is hardly heard of at all on the airwaves but certainly speaks volumes, it's from a German rock band so without further ado here are The Scorpions performing 'Wind of Change' live with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra....

Songs that don't get much airplay....But Should!!

There are many many songs that seem to get bypassed for some reason these five songs are just a drop in the great big musical ocean that fall in to this category, this has been your residential Horticulturist on a totally different subject of music, if you enjoyed or didn't you are more than welcome to add a comment, thanks for reading and listening.

Thank you Lada I'm still not sure about the maestro bit though! yes the Scorpions have performed some really good concerts with orchestra collaboration the best one I think was the 'Moment of Glory concert' again with the Berlin Philharmonic and the full concert is readily available on Youtube.

Well done Andrew! You are the horticulture and music maestro. My favourite is the last song. Great collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Thanks for the link Rick, although it would not play I found a live version of 'Pour le monde' meaning 'For the world' by Crowded house, and a pretty good song it is and deserves more airplay!

#8 Couldn't of put it any better if I wanted to Randy, an amusing spot on comment!

Finding a radio statio that airs anything of value these days is like finding a Beatle's Butcher Block LP at a garage sale. Keep the hits coming Andrew and frienda.

#6 Well thanks @Aaron Skogen acoustic versions you say! I have seen a few whilst browsing but I won't spoil it for you, and I certainly look forward to an acoustic only list from you.
It's funny but there are a lot of teenagers now who actually like as you put it "the golden age of rock" it's also funny how quite a few of these old rock artists are still performing and still sounding better than the new stuff...which may also be an idea for musical extravaganza!!

@Andrew Porter, another great selection.

The acoustic with Baez is awesome, I've heard the song before, but it's been a long time. It seems there are hardly any acoustic versions of anything played, which to me is a shame. As I think about that, you may have inspired me to create an acoustic only list. . .

The cranberries took me back to college, I think my roommate wore my CD out, along with Suzanne Vega and a few others.

The scorpions and Kansas are top notch picks from what my kids call the "golden age of rock" 😉 It's funny though, my sixteen year old loves both of those bands.

Great list and thanks for the mention too!
