There are times when the result of a match gives way to meaning where the result is academic and insignificant in comparison.  This week has been like that with the tragic events of the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of the Chairman of Leicester City football club.  Vichai was and will remain as one of the most loved Chairman of any football team and in a life full of achievements, the city of Leicester will remember the miracle year when his team who bookmakers gave 5000-1 odds to win the Premier League title, did exactly that.

This is the same when fans died at Hillsborough Stadium and also in the Heysel Stadium where so many lives were lost.  Other tragedies that rose above the game itself was the 1958 air crash where many of Sir Matt Busby's Busbys Babes were lost in the Munich Air Crash.

There is nothing new to be said about Tottenham's continual inability to consistently compete against the Top 6 clubs and while Spurs did beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford this year, Manchester United were in a really bad spell considering that this counts as United worst start to any Premier League season.

There is a problem I have with the Tottenham managers team selection and substitution strategies. They do not make sense.  He has failed to play Moura, Son, Lamela, Erikson in the same team and to rest Harry Kane, where Son or even Lamela is used as the center forward.  Neither did he play Winks with Dembele or Dier and instead keeps playing Mousa Sissoko, which maybe a good strategy against a non-Top Six team but totally baffling against the best teams in the Premier League.  True that Vertonghen is injured but the defensive line up of Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld and Davies was good.

Still, being that it was Riyad Mahrez that scored, that is an appropriate goal scorer for this sombre week in the history of the beautiful game.
