Dream Weddings and Sideshows

Dream Weddings and Sideshows

2d2959e8.pngAs a wedding this weekend my daughters wedding was spectacular and highly enjoyable and it had everything one could put together that classifies the meaning of "dream wedding".  The only small thing I now know in hindsight was to let my daughter know that she should enjoy the wedding rather than become a part of the sideshows that dream weddings can become.

Getting caught up in the paraphernalia of people wanting photographs with the bride and bridegroom showed me how patient the new couple are, but it is not a patience that I have if this was my "big day" and when it was a dream wedding for all of us, I personally saw the snap exhibit as a distraction rather than a novelty provision for guests to the wedding.

The sideshow of a big Indian wedding is the bits designed for guests but what I did not plan for is the bride and bridegroom's time getting occupied in what should have been an entertaining sideshow attraction for visiting wedding guests.   In the end an announcement from the hall was what was required to get the bride and groom free of the snapshot-hostage sideshow.

It is also that same wedding industry that made it the dream wedding my daughter wanted and credit is due to the official video and wedding photographer, rather than the foyer snap takers.  We are waiting for the video and photo-albums to be produced now and they I know will be spectacular, and the few pictures that I have seen underscore that talented work.

The best investment my daughter made was seeing a singer in a mall she liked and who she then asked to play live for the opening dance.  The young boy all of 17 years of age sang beautifully and for once the use of a fog machine was effective when the couple danced, which enhanced the dream wedding effect.

Sometimes having 700 wedding guests does not work to create a super atmosphere, but both sides of the wedding from the bride to the groom were party animals and so that added to the enjoyment.   The use of nicknacks like light tubes and funky glasses that shimmered different coloured lights added to the visual effects.

After this wedding the chief lesson I took away is that the value of a dream wedding is not to be underestimated and it is a blessing when it becomes that, but we must be careful about balancing the sideshow attractions set outside the wedding hall, that they don't out weigh what is going on in the wedding hall.

Overall our third wedding matched the quality of the first wedding and while all three weddings were dream weddings, the brides of the first two weddings were more involved in the banquet hall rather than sidetracked to the foyer.  This is but a minor peeve of mine, for when I look at the big picture, it was a fantastic wedding and now I pass my best wishes to the new couple and wish them all the best for the years ahead.

Hi Sara, I am glad you are noticing Savvy Raj, her LinkedIn page is really worth visiting https://www.linkedin.com/today/author/savvyraj?trk=prof-sm The wedding prevented me from exploring but once the post-wedding rituals are finished, which last another week, I look forward to engaging with her beautiful mind.

Thank You Sara, yes indeed the event coordinators like the official photographer created some breathtaking effects and pictures. For me the breathmaking is even a greater celebration this weekend - and those breathmakers are my family, who all contributed to the making of absolutely wonderful kids in our home.

Thank you for your wishes Savvy. Our three girls are blessed to have married three great hubbies and the three great hubbies are blessed to have three truly great women in their lives. I address here the idea of a divine blessing but there is also the blessings of fellow human beings and an interesting footnote is a piece called "The Bliss of Blessings" by Charu Bahri. http://completewellbeing.com/article/the-bliss-of-blessing/ Bahri is a cost accountant and computer programmer from Mount Abu in Rajasthan, India - and this is where gratitude and grace meet.
