A part of my iterative learning development is to enrich my life spectrum both the visible and invisible aspects of that which integrates to create, shape and develop my existence.  One idea that I stumbled on is research work being engaged by a group of researchers that are based out of both America and Europe that work out of six different university locations.

There research is based on emotional diversity or more to the point they have named it

"EMODIVERSITY"

What I like about their research is that their research and preliminary findings in the area of "emodiversity" is not simply an umbrella term under the emotional intelligence hat, though one of those researchers does focus on positive psychology. What I find most interesting about this project is that they compare emodiversity instead with biodiversity and that is a compelling distinction.  Researchers engaged in studying biodiversity are also at the beginning end rather than the end which begins to close the chapter on what knowledge has been discovered.  They support the term "emodiversity" by talking about our emotional ecosystem - and so I view it as a distinct form of study, as distinct as either the terms emotional intelligence or complexity science are as respective fields of study.

The researchers have at the time of me stumbling on their research have surveyed over 37,000 respondents.  This as I have said is the beginning end of their research but some of their initial findings about emotional diversity do tie in with my own online and offline learning space explorations as a form of personal emergence.  First I will link to their site :

I do not have a colour for emotional or logical on my own Renaissance Spectrum because both are a function of the 15 spectrums (which also are the same spectrum on my Paradox Wisdom buzzes)

An important function of what I do is NOT to give others a method but to explore one's own construct.  Most people do not engage in emergent learning and need some kind of method or process or a box to reference.  Diversity cannot be captured by any method or process but the idea that one can research "emotional diversity" is interesting to me.  How can one know what is emotional diverse if it is bound by a cookie cutter methodology and here I mean as a philosophy rather than as research methodology?

Asking what the diversity of our emotions are the same as placing a limitation on how many colours exist.  We know that emotion like colour has significant variety but we operate from the Newton type of spectrum because 7 colours are easier to label and codify around than an infinite variety of colours.  I am not codifying around 15 colours because that is the sum and total of my classification but because I had started with 7, expanded to 10 and have settled now at 15 as prior classifications did not fit in all that I want to include in my own Renaissance Spectrum.

Cerebral does include logical in my renaissance spectrum and Supernal does include emotional but these ranges exist as a continuum in many of the other spectrum classifications.  These are classifications are continuously being iterated and  redefined because learning is not a neat little static model that is one size for all, it is individual and unique as our DNA.

It is this emergent and holistic nature of this particular survey that leads me to take interest in the work of these researchers who have come up with the term "emodiversity".  This is a personal choice rather than an endorsement of their work for others - as is what I do and how I engage with my Renaissance Spectrum/Paradox Wisdom.
