Golgafrincham
Planet Earth, at least in the prosperous part of the planet that we reside on, should be renamed Golgafrincham, in the manner Douglas N. Adams wickedly brilliant mind had drawn up in his book Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Alas there is no B-Ark or B-Ship to remove the "useless third of the population" and so we continue to observe massive levels of mediocrity dressed up as content marketing and as influencer marketing. There is nothing I can personally do to stop this madness because this is how the system is geared. We want to deal with issues but we don't want to deal with systems and the system we currently operate under is predicated upon the creation and harvesting of BS or brand strategy for branded people.
Branded people celebrate the clever and industrious and any position which garners agreement or can express morally safe positions. Yet the reality of our world does not work that way, this reality does not fit our easy to digest formulas and cookie cutter solutions. Only well branded people are mindless enough to ignore that the smooth asses world they depict has its share of really ugly hairy asses. It is only through the equally safe world of quotes one can suggest that leadership positions should go to the lazy but clever, but this is what the following quote says :
"The Person Who is Clever and Lazy Qualifies for the Highest Leadership Posts"
see https://quoteinvestigator.com/2014/02/28/clever-lazy/We follow prescriptive existence because life involving the BS of branded existence is itself predicated on certainty. We don't want to operate from the actual norm of existence which is one that is based on uncertainty. So it is we have created a society full of superficial and/or judgemental people. Then we go one step further and put them in professional fields and create professional bodies that certify that need for certainty.
The reality of this branded existence is that the norm for human bodies is to be sheep-like. Some skeptical folk tired of the BS they see in this world call them "sheeples"
While "Sheeple" is a derogatory term, I don't think sheep like behaviour should be derided. Indeed it should be praised and welcomed because, that very sheep like behaviour is what makes our global economy tick. It is the opposite of sheeple that we should be worried about because it these people who in the other extreme create bloodshed and division.
If people do not want to question what they are sold that is their individual freedom, even though it also limits the scope of this thing we refer to as democracy. As Winston Churchill once said " "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."
Ironically personal branding is not democratic, it is an exercise in elitism, but here again we voice great discontentment about the elites but they like the sheep are simply another aspect of the BS that is hardwired into the present economic and political system. War simply shifts us from one form of BS into another form of BS - but the system does not evolve.
Michio Kaku describes in the following video some of this thoughts on the Evolution of Intelligence. Ultimately the evolution latent in our DNA does not follow the BS system predicated on simplistic economics or linear explanations of personal branding. What Michio bears out that in the history of evolution nature did not need us as "intelligent creatures" but what he does not say is that we should not assume human beings to "intelligent creatures" when we are still branded animals that are largely clueless about the powers of intelligence contained in every brain that goes unexercised and undeveloped.
So it is that while we are capable of complex reasoning, that reasoning is branded and is only required through a present economic, political, technical and social system to operate at a relatively mediocre level of intelligence. That is simply where we are in terms of the evolution unexpressed and remaining latent in our DNA and not yet exercised through our brains. Yet a few very brilliant minds are on the cusp of augmenting the human brain with artificial technologies. Such augmentation actually begins to realize Nietzsche's idea of the "ubermensch" :

The important thing through this superficial society and image based short-term thinking is not to 1: Be sidetracked by it 2: Assume that we are the dinosaur The modern day world of superficial masks and tribal faces is simply cave painting 101. We have not advanced much beyond our ancestors who left their work images on the cave wall, and if anything we have regressed because what cave man with a right mind is going to hire a cave brand consultant to paint his drawings for him. As for fundamentals - virtues and principles are a human thing and we need not position ourselves as the reminder of what is extinct, because even in humour we are reinforcing images in a society that has not got much past painting superficial images as representations of success. In the matter of principles we have people like Ray Dalio putting forth reminders that all of us can elevate to the higher ground, rather than compete in what is a digitally accelerated old-fashioned dog-eat-dog world or at least a virtual rat race replaces rats with digital equivalents. https://www.principles.com/principles-for-success/#play
